Hi Monica, sounds like you installed another server on top of wamp and now wamp is not running. This "It works" message is the default page in a blank apache install. you will know wamp is not working if the icon is now Orange or Red, It should be green

Maybe it's hidden?? You can set the icons in the tray to Always show Always hides Notifications only. If the services started on there own with out you manually starting them , then the exe is running, confirm the wampmanager.exe is running in task manager and then it will definitely be the icon is hidden

Riggs said that the new user will only have access to that database. But the root user can be reset easily as I said to gain access 3 common solutions are Encryption of the db Use SQLite and SQLCipher together Move MySQL to a secured location and then let them access it remotely

Oh I understand - I did the same thing but I added Vc6 vc9 etc to the end of the folder names just to keep it all the same In fact I think I use .vc6. And rewrote the function that chops of the last .z so that it compares the vc build

I think Riggs is right tho There is no need to have z in x.y.z as the dll will only ever need to match y

That's a good question. The answer is no it's not possible. Root is a global user and any user with global privileges will be able to access the db. Because the permissions are not held in your db but in the MySQL.db It may seem backwards but MySQL won't allow you access to a db unless you have permission - but like I said before that's only secure provided your accessing MySQL via

You don't need access to MySQL to replace tables In the the data/MySQL folder there is 3 files User.frm User.myd User.myi If you just replace these 3 files with default files from a wamp install, you can gain access to the db with out even uninstalling. The reason you see it all depends on the version of MySQL in the wamp bundle, if it's a different version then it won't overwr

This has nothing to do with wampserver. This a MySQL issue and it's not really an issue at all. If you have physical access to a MySQL server you can easily replace the users table with a default users table to take control of it. You will need to encrypt ur db to stop physical attacks

I was actually talking about C:/wamp/wampmanager.conf If you just delete versions without being able to I select them, they will still be in this file as the current or previous versions. This file is used to build the selected versions on the menu

U can't use both- If u enable the Include vhosts Then the code in that file is included so yes you will need to comment that other line out

I had stop building Addons. My concern is there is continued bugs in the current wamp version that I have told the developers numerous times to fix but still in current version I feel like forking the entire project

They use different handlers so not all extensions will work - if ur building a site to later upload onto an apache server , it would be best to test it on wamp.

Any PC will do but I guess ur server will be better cos it will be on all the time. U will need to make some changes to the access settings so that it's available on LAN but not WAN
