no you are correct , a php.ini in the folder will overide the master file but can you ensure the file is called php.ini and not php.ini.txt before we look at it further you need to turn on file extension showing in windows as its off be default for known file types

you cant only install apache2.0 its YEARS OLD you need to also install a old version of php and mysql to match. its written clearly on the site in the addons table all versions must be 23bit if you are install addons as all addons are 32bit

i would just like to make a small edit to this great manual. ## must be first so the the wamp menu page loads when you use just localhost as the domain name this is actually wrong - this section for www should be LAST in the list - NOT first. If apache cant match any of the vhosts , it selects the first one. - if someone on the web manages to do that , the will get to the www folder and

you can use the logs - left click the green icon and goto apache> access logs this will show you the current ones if you want to see it live you can download some programs that will connect to the log as a stream and show it. you can also use cmd to view current connects to your pc

if a file is flagged as read only, then its read ONLY. A folder doesnt have a read only option- what would it mean? if you need to see all files in a folder to read only use attrib to set it for all files in a folder

sounds like a virus if the file cannot be changed to clear "read only" or else your not the right user. open CMD as administrator, navigate to file and use the "attrib" command to remove it attrib filepath\filename this will show you the current flags you can use + and - to add and remove more

Well its hardly wamp if its working in other browsers! Check the source on the page to see if there is ANY code at all and clear the logs in apache and then only connect from Chrome, and see what messages collect in the ACCESS and ERROR logs
