That means your apache is not working at all. Check tray icon to see if all services runing. If not and using sp2, disable windows firewall. If using 3-party firewall, enable port 80 for http as well as in router. If using IIS and/or skyle, port 80 already conflict, disable them or change listen to different port in wamp/apache2/conf/http.conf. Hope this help

Very excited to share this with everyone. Wonder how you would do when you need to re-format hd but have too many services such as wamp, ftp server, mail server, forum, so on with a lot of associated accounts and data. Before, I was always use each service to backup its structure, then manually save all data; after re-format hd, re-install windows and all services, manually again to insert data

It's clear that it goes by priority order, and that's why it shows file instead list. Change all your file to something else like index1.php, header1.php, so on and try it out.

So you go like this: http//localhost/newfolder/ Remember, it should have forward flash in the end. It should show the list of files in newfolder, because mine is working just fine.

Oh! So you use free sub domain (i.e anyname.dyndns.org), and in that case, you don't need to change server name. Remember, domain name is different from server name. I misunderstood before, too. Did you see wamp welcome page when type in browser ? By the way, did you set global access to ON yet? If not, do it through wamp system tray icon.

I keep repeating that your folder should be in www folder, but seem I talk to myself though. To run your php files, it should be like this: If you direct click on that new folder, all new files must be in there, if not, you have a problem when copy files over.

Did you change name server 1 and 2 yet? I guess not, since you didn't mention about that at all. Besides, your have to configure dns to point your domain to your web ip, too. If not using router and firewall including windows firewall, just wait about 6-72hrs to see the effective. If using router and firewall, disable windows firewall, enable port 80 in third party firewall such as Norton and

The included php file in www folder is wamp welcome page I already mention in my first post here, I mean it will show up when you access localhost through tray icon or . The others, outside www folder, are for running wamp, if not sure, don't mess with them. To run your other php files, they should be in your_project_folder and this folder should be in www folder. For example, to run test.php, i

Did you perform clean registry after uninstall xamp? If not, try it. If still have same problem, don't be mad at me but here is the quickest solution: backup all your data, re-format hd and install win, or use different hd w/ clean win install, then wamp. Hope this help, Post Edited (07-20-06 19:54)

He...he... the link is so detail and so good for beginner like me, so here is the "instant noodle" setup, and make sure to name them as .htaccess and .htpasswd, not as htaccess.txt or anything else. // file .htaccess AuthUserFile C:/wamp/www/your_private_folder/.htpasswd AuthName "Private Area" AuthType Basic <Limit GET POST> require valid-user </Limit>
