Ok so lets try a TeamViewer session

Do this before attempting a connection.

How to Configure Team Viewer so it does not require port 80 or 443

Run TV
Extras -> Options -> Advanced -> Press the Advanced Button -> Advanced Network Connections

Check the checkbox saying [ Dont use incomming port 80 (recommended for web servers only ) ]
Stop and restart TV.

Then
Send me a Private Message containing the TV ID and PASSWORD so I can connect.
Leave TV running as it will change the password each time you restart it.

I am on UK time (GMT) and am normally available 09:00 - 16:00 and normally later into the evening.

If the wampmanager icon is not GREEN then one of the services ( Apache(wampapache)/MySQL(wampmysqld) ) has not started properly.

How to tell which service is not running if the wampmanager icon is orange.

Left click the wampmanager icon to reveal the menu-> Apache -> Service
If the Start/Resume service menu is Green then Apache IS NOT running.

Left click the wampmanager icon to reveal the menu-> MySQL -> Service
If the Start/Resume service menu is Green then MySQL IS NOT running.

If Apache is the service that is not running it is normally, but not always, because something else has captured port 80.

Now do,
Left click the wampmanager icon to reveal the menu-> Apache -> Service -> Test port 80
This will launch a command window and display some information about what, if anything is using port 80.

Whatever it is should be re-configured to not use port 80 or uninstalled if you are not using it.

If port 80 is not the problem look for errors in the appropriate error log ( use the wamp manager menus to view the error logs )

If these do not exists or show no errors then also check the Windows Event Viewer
Start -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer
And look in the 'Windows Logs' -> Application' section accessed from the menu on the left of the dialog for error messages from Apache and or MySQL.

How to Configure SKYPE so it does not require port 80 or 443
( This does not appear to be necessary on recent versions i.e. after march 2014 )

Run SKYPE
then using the menus do this:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection
Un-Check the checkbox next to 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incomming connections'
Now restart SKYPE for these changes to take effect.

If you are running Windows 8 SKYPE comes as a tiled app and this cannot ( as yet ) be configured in this way.
However if you uninstall the SKYPE app and install SKYPE in the old way, you can reconfigure it, and it works just as well.

How to Configure Team Viewer so it does not require port 80 or 443
Run TV
Extras -> Options -> Advanced -> Press the Advanced Button -> Advanced Network Connections
Check the checkbox saying [ Dont use incomming port 80 (recommended for web servers only )

If the problem is not obvious then post the errors here

Hi all!

I received the same error. Here are my details:

OS Version: Windows 8 64 bit.
Wamp Server: 64 bit
Apache: 2.4.9
MySQL: 5.6.17
PHP: 5.5.12
Wampanager Icon: Orange
MySQL is not running.
Cannot access localhost/Phpmyadmin - #2002 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).

How can I fix this?

Most common reason is that you have a my.ini file in the c:\windows folder. Do a search and delete any my.ini not in the \wamp\... folder structure somewhere.

If that is not the reason try this

Open a command prompt as Administrator

Run

netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns

Reboot if necessary

Try apache again

Hi RiggsFolly!

Thank you for your quick reply. I did the the following below and no result:

Found two my.ini files in my :/C windows folder and deleted them both

Ran

netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset catalog
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
ipconfig /flushdns

Rebooted the computer

my WAMP is still Orange with the same error.

Any suggestions?

As you had the odd my.ini file, do you also have another MySQL running? Look in Windows Services.

WampServers verions is called wampmysql the normal name is just MYSQL so if you see a MYSQL in the services you will need to uninstall the other version. But make sure it wont affect something else you use!!!

I checked Windows Services.

I do Not have other versions of MySQL.

I only have: "wampapache64" and "wampmysqld64"

Wampapache is running but when I try to run wampmysql is says "error" The service stopped unexpectedly.

I went into my.ini file and even changed tmp/mysql.sock ---> c:/tmp/mysql.sock

no luck.

any suggestions? Hoping to get this up and running so I can finish working on my clients website.
