Actually it is a WAMPServer issue because anything else on the internet comes through and sees me typing into their webpages and uploads my files. Gmail for example can tell when I am logged in from different computers. And occasionally a hacker gets through and looks at files and worse. Maybe there is a setting on WAMP to make it operate without Port Forwarding? I have not only checked the

Hi, I am hooked up to a rural ISP through a neighbor which is cheap but their radio modem has no port forwarding. is there a way WAMp can work without Port Forwarding? I know this ISP often drops out so my websites can't be up 24x7 like they used to be but if there is a way to make it work at all, that would be appreciated. Thanks. Kirk

Thanks. On Win98 dragging the WAMP shortcut to the timed start folder then adjusting the properties time to startup appears so work. I guess trying to enter it manually instead of by dragging the icon failed previously.

My Wamp server has been working great for a year with one exception. Whenever a power outage hits or a child shuts off the remote server or Microsoft did an upgrade once a month, WAMP does not come back up when the power turns on like Windows and TeamViewer does. So I suggest it needs another patch, to automatically restart after power off. I have mentioned this before and was told to try to

No need to reply. I discovered the problem was with my DNS due to a new ICANN rule requiring verifying email address which appears to have set my IP pointers wrong OR my server got assigned a new IP somehow. Anyway I can now access via [71.8.176.250] and I've set my DNS names to that so it should work soon.

Hi, my wamp appears to be working both by the clock icon and by responding correctly to local host. But I still don't get anything online by my registered domain names or by direct access via [75.139.208.52] However, I do have access via TeamViewer. What could be wrong? I'm guessing it can't be the DNS because I would get access at least by the direct IP address. Since I can get access v

I've definitely experienced degrading performance when updates are off on Win Vista without doubt and probably on Win XP. The Win Vista machine which reported all sorts of p

WAMP always turns off and stays off when Microsoft sends an update. Software like TeamViewer restarts itself automatically which is the only way I can turn WAMP back on at a remote location. Please fix WAMP so it will also restart automatically. I prefer to have my webpages up all the time. Thanks. Please inform me when this update is available. I tried applying some autostart instruction

I upgraded to the latest download of Wampserver and changed the two key config files, httpd.conf and httpd-vhosts.conf but forgot to uncomment [#] the include for the vhosts file in httpd.conf so it was giving the directory but I had to use it to get the page. Now it works!

I want to offer selected remote users hosting on my server. Is there instructions or an add-on to allow me to grant access to a specific subdirectory? Thank you.

How much Internet speed is required? I have 1GB cable now. I receive media files fast enough in some cases like this example: Adobe Flash and .asx files seem to play fine but I don't know how to translate to those files. I have Roxio Creator 2010 but I find their better formats cause lots of dropouts on my old 2GHz computer that I use for WAMP. So what are the more efficient formats you

My WAMP is running fine for webpage service but some media service is delivered too slow to work right. For example, these media files work ok on Windows media player (WMP) on a LAN connected computer but across town WMP either connects and downloads too slow or gives an error. How can this be fixed? Thank you.

When I hover the mouse pointer over the half-clock WAMP icon it says WAMPSERVER - server Online. In WinXP Pro the firewall has no exception for wamp. I tried adding C:\wamp\wampmanager.exe but that didn't help. I turned off the firewall temporarily which allowed the webpage to work fine. I turned the firewall back on then added exception for C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.2.8\bin\httpd.exe and

A guest used my server computer and caused a virus to infect my computer. I killed the virus using Spybot SD but I still had internet problems. I fixed the MSIE problem by a full reset of all settings. The WAMPSERVER still doesn't serve my webpages like to the public like it used to. Localhost and localhost:80 works. WAMP's icon is correctly to the right in the black. I double checked the

Steven Martin, Thanks very much! I read your .pdf file and it got me thinking about my problem in a new way which solved the problem. I had the router forwarding on port 80 to a different IP than the one the computer is on. So changing from 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.2 made it work! Thank you. Sincerely, Kirk Fraser

Where can I get some actual help? The pre-written blog entries don't seem to have the information I need. The website is still down but works fine and Wamp's tray icon says it's working fine. The firewall looks good with HTTP 80 set for internet access and nothing else. The Spybot SD looks as good as before. So some bug has entered my system that needs actual work to track down and fix.

I also tried to ping 75.139.214.136 but it always says request timed out. Are there any other ways to test what's going on? The above IP is shown by Gmail so it's working for that software. Why not for Wamp? Thanks for the help.

Is there any debug technique to trace the actions of a browser when attempting to connect to a server? If I want to be sure is pointed to my Wamp, how can I get a log on it? When I used it returned default page and Wamp logged two lines: 127.0.0.1 - - [01/Feb/2010:18:13:38 -0800] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 304 - 127.0.0.1 - - [01/Feb/2010:18:13:38 -0800] "GET /gray.bmp HTTP/1.1&q

What else could it be? Is there anything in WinXP itself which could allow answering localhost correctly but prevent from working using the very same vhost command block? Assuming Wamp software itself is working correctly and the DNS is still correctly pointing to IP 75.139.214.136 and there is no anti-virus program according to Windows and the firewall settings seem correct per your in

Hi, My Wamp was working fine then I tried to get the new one-click Seaside to work and my ordinary http webpages stopped being served. I also found in the log somebody from Australia had been into my backup disk, so I firewalled that. Wamp appeared in great shape with the tray icon always going all the way to the right with black. The localhost displayed one webpage. But nothing would d

I downloaded the one click Seaside from and it comes up with a message saying: The Seaside application server is already running on port 8080. Point your browser to to give it a try. It seems to work but how can I make it work under WAMP? I've tried a variety of virtual host statements with rewrites that all fail for this (suggested by people who use Apache on Mac). Thanks for helping

My Wamp was working fine on my XP machine until I created a LAN between it and a Vista home basic machine changing only the Vista commands. The LAN works as does my internet access but my websites under Wamp now don't show up even though the Wamp tray icon shows it's working fine. Since the changes blocking WAMP were made on Vista I need another change in Vista or is there a change to make in

Thank you both very much! I now have a list of over 900 blocked IP's attempting to access my /BBS files. If anyone wants the list, say so and I'll post it, or email, your choice. Some do it even after they request the robot.txt file which directs them away. Had I known this earlier I could have saved earlier logs and blocked many more. Some may be inappropriately blocked, perhaps se

Thanks much! I have built a list of over 50 bad bot IP's for my htaccess file but two questions came up. One is how can I be certian they are blocked since some log entries of blocked sites have repeated again after adding their IP, exiting Wamp, then starting again to make sure it reads the file? The second question is, does the abbreviation of IP's documented in the latest Apache docs
