I know WAMP is NOT a production server but I would like to at least be able to access my WAMP server over my VPN. The VPN does not allow name translation (I worked that much out) and I'm not worried about that but i surely should be able to open the WAMP website by local (over VPN) IP address. I can connect to my PC by using 'run to' over the VPN or by using a VNC type application but although m

I cannot see this working myself since installing WAMP creates the Apache and MySQL services on the computer itself. If you take your USB pen drive to a different PC then that PC will not have the services installed. I think you would like something like 'Server2go' this is intended to run from CD but should work from a pendrive. Regards, Andy.

The easiest way is to upload / copy a php file called phpinfo.php into it and browse to this file using your web browser. Save the text below (starting with </php) into a file called phpinfo.php and place that in your www folder then browse to: using your browser. You should see an array of details regarding the version of php that you are running. <?php phpinfo(); ?>

This is the directory you need to move / copy / place your php files into. Hi, If Apache gets the stop command oen second after starting could it be an error in the httpd.conf file which is stopping Apache from starting successfully? I seem to remember coming across something like this before with Apache. I could be wrong. Regards, Andy.

Hi Tsango, To use a different host directory (as you put it) left mouse click on the wamp tray icon and select config files then httpd.conf search for DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www" (this is the default) and change the path to reflect your new path to your docs. Be sure to stop and then re-start Apache for this change to be made. httpd.conf is read ONLY as Apache starts. Regards, Andy.

Hi and thanks for your reply. Posted below are the last few lines of the Apache error log. There is nothing obvious that I can see, not sure about the 'specified network name is no longer available' error., what's that all about? The actual Apache web server works perfectly but just does not log any requests at all. I have stopped and started the Apache service several times and even re-booted
