Howdy,

I'd really appreciate some help with this if anyone knows what I have done wrong here. I have installed WAMP from scratch as per usual, using chrome as the default browser. I have Chrome set to automatically detect LAN settings to use the Internet in my college. I have to uncheck this in order to access localhost, it will otherwise not work. When I do uncheck this and try to run the traq project management software, I get this error :

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I've checked the Apache error log and it gives this error when I try and run it :

[Tue Jan 31 20:11:47 2012] [alert] [client 127.0.0.1] C:/wamp/www/upload/.htaccess: Invalid command 'RewriteEngine', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration, referer: [localhost]
[Tue Jan 31 20:11:47 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: C:/wamp/www/favicon.ico

Does anyone have any idea what I have done wrongly? It's very confusing!

Ah, brilliant, thank you!

Any idea why localhost is displayed when the browser is configured not to automatically detect settings ? I'm very confused by this! Apologies if these are stupid questions, I have been googling this for hours, but to no avail! smiling smiley

I Dont think this settings disables the hosts file.

if you want to stop localhost working then you need to edit the hosts file in

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
