Currently, I have Drupal 7 production site up and I would like to make some changes in it. The site is up and running with no problems on the webserver. I have made some changes on the webserver preceded always by backups.

The changes I need to make now are considerable and may bring the site down for prolonged time. I need to clone the site down to a localserver WAMP so I can work on it, make the changes and then write over what I have now on the webserver.

I have googled and looked around quit a bit, but I think it is best I get right. I tried several days ago to do this. The front page rendered fine, but I couldn't get other pages to render. I didn't have time for working with it and through the issue at that time.

I would appreciate some pointers links or something to competent informaton on how to do this.
