WampServer Icon stays orange

I have done a fresh install of Wampserver 2.1.

When I click Start All Services (or Restart) the icon goes red then orange but stays offline.

When I Put Online it produces an alert dialog which says 'Could not execute menu item....'.

I cannot access Localhost or PhpAdmin, both giving:

Not Found. Http error 404.

I am on Vista Home Premium.

(Note: I also have MS SQL installed and still need that installed. I need to alternate between wampserver and MS SQL, so need both active. I use Firefox for wampserver and IE for all my Microsoft stuff.)

Thanks, I had a look around and found it in

WampServer|Apache|httpd.conf

and changed the bit

Listen 80

to

Listen 8080

Thanks again for the help. It works fine now.

No. Its still not working correctly.

The wampserver now goes green but when I load localhost or phpAdmin it still is not recognised as being there.

If you go to

Wampserver|Apache|Service

it still has Test Port 80 and complains that this is still connect to MS SQL.

Is there anything else I need to do to get wampserver onto port 8080?

apache uses 80

mysql uses 3306

edit the my.ini in mysql folder

change 3306 to 3307

written 3 times in the file

save and restart wamp.

you will also need to add the port to the config.inc.php in the phpmaydmin folder

OK, I have found out why it is not showing the local host etc.

I go to:

Wampserver|Localhost

It shows the not found 404 error.

The address bar shows:

[localhost]

so I manually change this to

[localhost]

and then all is fine.

So the question is, how do I get the address bar automatically going to port 8080 rather than having me manually type it?

Thanks for both the replies.

I tried the mysql 3307 stuff but that did not work.

However I did not know how to do the bit:

Re: you will also need to add the port to the config.inc.php in the phpmaydmin folder

Also the blog.jlbn.net link did not seem to do anything.

As far as I can see I need to change the address bar so it constantly puts in

localhost:8080 rather than just localhost

I have had a look around and found this in the wamp directory in the file wampmanager.ini:

[Menu.Left]
;WAMPMENULEFTSTART
Type: separator; Caption: "Powered by Alter Way"
Type: item; Caption: "Localhost"; Action: run; FileName: "C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe"; Parameters: "[localhost];; Glyph: 5
Type: item; Caption: "phpMyAdmin"; Action: run; FileName: "C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe"; Parameters: "[localhost];; Glyph: 5
Type: item; Caption: "www directory"; Action: shellexecute; FileName: "c:/wamp/www"; Glyph: 2
Type: submenu; Caption: "Apache"; SubMenu: apacheMenu; Glyph: 3
Type: submenu; Caption: "PHP"; SubMenu: phpMenu; Glyph: 3
Type: submenu; Caption: "MySQL"; SubMenu: mysqlMenu; Glyph: 3
Type: separator; Caption: "Debug"
Type: item; Caption: "Client XDebug"; Glyph: 6; Action: run; FileName: "c:/wamp/tools/xdc/xdc.exe"
Type: item; Caption: "webGrind"; Action: run; FileName: "C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe"; Parameters: "[localhost];; Glyph: 5

I have manually changed the [localhost] to [localhost] but every time I restart wampserver they change back.
