Hi,

I have to install wamp server on my new pc (i had it running for a few years on my old one so I know how great wamp server is) ,
but whatever i try, the icon stays orange and says server offline.

When i click on "put online" i get a msg from "eastan tray menu" ; could not execute menu item (internal error) [exeption] Could not perform service action; the service has not been started.

I have windows 7 professional 64 bit

I have first installed Wamp 2.2 for 64 bit O.S. when that did not work i uninstalled and tried 2.0 with actually the same result.

Can anyone help me out here as I really need to get this working

Edwin

The error mesage is because apache is not running. You cannot "Put Online" until apache is configured correctly and actually running.

1. Check that the HOSTS file contains this line

127.0.0.1 localhost

If not add it.

After that look at the Event Viewer. Apache reports errors in there that happen before it gets as far as using its own apache-error.log file.

Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.

Look at Windows Logs -> Application
and look for Apache errors

Hi,

Thanks for the reply but just closing Skype did the trick.

Maybe something to add to the newbie info in capital letters :-)

Thanks again!

No problem.

Do a search on SKYPE here and you will find out how to set it not to use port 80.

Something else on your PC server is probably using port 80.

A Test would be to make apache listen on another port, try 8080.
Look for the line Listen 80 in httpd.conf and change to Listen 8080. Then Restart All Services from wampmanager.

If all goes green then something is using port 80, possibly IIS, but could be a number of things. You will just have to search for the other process.

Look here for how to do that

How to Configure SKYPE so it does not require port 80 or 443

Run SKYPE
then using the menus do this:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection

Un-Check the checkbox next to 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incomming connections'

Now restart SKYPE for these changes to take effect.

Go to control panel -> administrative tools -> services ->SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) then you just stop the SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) service then restart the wamp server then it automatically orange icon turns to green for more info just it out <a href="[www.coderetina.com]; thanks
