WAMP not starting all of a sudden

I'm working on a big project, so I need to fix this ASAP.

I had WAMP up and running for a long time, but one day I needed to restart it. So, I press 'Exit' and then reloaded it, but it won't pass the 'yellow stage' on the icon! If I try to go to [localhost] it gives me an error like I would get if WAMP wasn't on.

Please help!

Thanks,
- Moshe Teutsch

HINTS: have you checked all the logs. To see what errors might be in them and what changes did/have you made that would disable localhost. that might be a apache error
Try uninstalling the service and reinstalling the service for apache and mysql from the wamp tray icon
Are you running IIS on the same port
Did you try a addon
instead of localhost did you try to open the local page trying [127.0.0.1]

try running from command line
on windows
Start
run
type "cmd" then ok or enter
at the command prompt type
netstat -a
hit enter
and see if the port "http" is running if so and the icon is still yellow you might have another version of webserver running.

I needed to restart the server, so I left clicked the icon, pressed exit, and started wamp server again. After I did this though, I waited for the icon to turn from yellow to white, but it never did. I tried going to localhost, 127.0.0.1, etc. and it didn't work.

That's all.

I'd really appreciate help ASAP.

Thanks,

If you have Skype running, the wamp will not start..

No, I don't.

I think the problem is this:

[Thu Feb 26 12:24:42 2009] [warn] pid file C:/wamp/bin/apache/apache2.2.8/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?

But I'm not sure. It makes sense, as I don't think I properly shutdown WAMP. What does that error mean anyway?

Any help appreciated ASAP!!

Thanks,
- Moshe

<<If you have Skype running, the wamp will not start..>>

Just jumping in on this post because I'm having issues with Wamp on a laptop. I've posted another thread. A little different issue.

However, I have Wamp running on a PC desktop AND SKYPE, and Wamp works perfectly.

Then I have a laptop where I'm trying to run Wamp and it doesn't even have skype on it, but it doesn't work at all.

So Skype doesn't seem to affect my PC and running Wamp.

Reading other threads trying to get to the bottom of my issue, and I might also note that one is supposed to DISable IIS on a PC; however, I ended up enabling IIS and my Wamp started running. Go figure! I have no idea! But it WAS disabled, and Wamp wouldn't run at all. Couldn't even start it. Upon checking to SEE if iis was enabled or disabled, I decided to just go ahead and enable it, as Wamp wasn't starting anyway, so I figured I might as well give it a try, and then rebooted, and Wamp started. Crazy!

Just wanted to repost as possibly this will help someone else. I had disabled Norton, but that didn't help because I had only 1 service running on WAMP.

So I went into Norton Settings > Firewall Protection > Program Rules and ADDED WAMP.

That did it! All services are running.

That is so odd, because I've just never had a problem running Wamp and Skype. It has never been an issue before. That's why I was confused when I read it on the forum. I run Skype and Wamp on my Sony, but I've never had to configure either one to work together.

So that is really odd.

Anyone heard of topic hijacking? Lord. Now there is no way I'm going to get help here. I'm going to need to start a new Topic.

To hell with it. I'll try to save as much data as I can, then I'll reinstall WAMP.

My wamp was not starting either, so I thought it would be helpful to mention what I did with the firewall, norton, etc, and someone else mentioned skype possibly being a problem. Everything was a good suggestion to help search for answers to why your wamp wouldn't start. I got mine going again because of information I got from a couple threads in this forum and different suggestions. Gave me ideas and places to search.

I too have WAMP and skype running together in my windows machine. It did not give any problems.

After a couple of weeks WAMP stopped working and when I logged off the skype it started working again!

Not sure! why it worked before and not always.
