The old WAMP (5) used to automatically start the tray icon when the operating system was started; but now, with the new WAMP (2.0), I need to manually start "start wampserver" every time I want the tray icon to show. It's very annoying.
I have set both of the wamp services to start automatically but it hasn't changed anything. The server is running in the background but the tray icon just doesn't start by itself.
Different computers/OS and still have same problem means you're using the same anti-virus/firewall or some other internet related soft which prevents this wamp to run
Before WAMP 2.0 came out I was using WAMP 5. With WAMP 5 it was working perfectly fine and now with the update it stops working...so it must be something they did when they updated it. This doesn't happen to you?
I am also having this problem. I have used wamp for years, but the new V is not playing ball. On a clean windows install with amp it still has this issue. If I double click on wamp exe the icon appears for a second and then goes.
Yes I have tried that and it didn't change anything. It still will not show the icon on startup. I have to do it manually. I don't get any warning on startup either.
When I was running vista there was only one account; mine. I'm not using vista anymore though. I'm on XP Pro now and I still have the same problem.
dunno. only have xp sp2 and vista sp1. can you explain to me whats happening when you run it? wamp does not run at startup by default nor does it have a setting to make it do it.
I forgot to mention that I also have SP3. When Windows starts, the two wamp services are running (wampapache & wampmysqld), but the tray icon isn't. I have to go to my Start menu and click the "start wampserver" shortcut that WAMP placed there after installation, and only then will the tray icon pop up.

When I go to my Start menu and click the "start wampserver" it does not start the tray icon, unlick the post above. The icon shows for a split second and then goes. All services are running and my site is up an running fine.
