Wamp no acces to phpmyadmin

Ok so I am having major problems trying to get php, mysql and phpmyadmin to work on my windows 2k3 server.
First I tried ISS6.0 with php 5.2.x but php just wouldn't work.
Then I tried apache+php 5.2.2+mysql latest. That worked, however then I downloaded phpmyadmin 3.x.
Then I really got confused by the config file! It is no longer just username and password but you need to set some sort of cookie fishconfused smiley and after that you cannot set a mysql password.

So I got a tip to use wamp, since it install all..

I deinstalled mysql and left apache and php on my pc since those worked.
Then I installed wamp on c:/wamp.
I disabled the apache 2.2.8 server I already had and went to localhost.

When I go to localhost and see the wamp page php is working, also extentions are OK.
When I go to phpmyadmin it says that connecting to mysql with root and password NO is rejected.

So I am having the same problem as without wampsad smiley.

Question:

How do I configure phpmyadmin to actually work?

edit:
btw what is the mysql passwordconfused smiley? Isnt there documentation besides the "presentation"?

Phpmyadmin still says:
MySQL said:

#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Thanks it worked yfastud!!! great site!

btw that was the rootpassword of phpmyadmin but how is it possible mysql then accepts that? I did not encounter making differences to mysql in the tutorial.

2nd question:

I notice I can only reach local to phpmyadmin, probably its protected by .htacces? (It's forbidden for my other pc). Can I give acces to only 192.168.1.7 or is it all or nothing?

phpmyadmin is gui for mysql, so everything you see belongs to mysql, including db, users and password

by default, phpmyadmin and sqlitemanager are blocked from outside access and for your own security, you should keep it that way

Hmm Real VNC is so slowsad smiley:p.

btw did not know phpmyadmin could actually set passwords. In the pas I just installed mysql and php and apache and then go to the mysql command line and set a new password. Then put that in phpmyadmin.

Yep, before I have option to use either phpmyadmin or mysql command; then, a lot of users get confused, so only 1 option now ;-)

When u do a search, it'll show you only 1 link saying "click to go back to the search" But you hav to click this link to proceed to the search's results.

U have to click on that link "click to go back to the search" after a search to see the results.

Hope it can help.
