localhost vs download

Why is it that when I try to acces my localhost through ie or firefox, I am asked if I want to save or open the file?

make sure apache is running.

make sure you access your webpage like this:
[localhost]

put all your website files (html, images, css, php, etc) in your document root directory
c:\wamp\www

and access your own file like this:

If your files in wamp/www

[localhost]

If your files in wamp/www/your_new_folder

[localhost]
