OOPS! WampServer won't start

I cannot get WampServer to start. It says that it cannot find the file to run but I do not know what file it wants. I made a copy of the error report but I do not know how to get it to this forum for others to see.

I clearly stated that I do not know what file. It is not in the error report and I do not know how to get the image of the report on here.

Executable: wampmanager.exe
Version: 1.6.2.37
Exception Message: Could not execute run action: The system cannot find the file specified.

No where in the other tabs does it indicate what file.

Ah, found a way to get it here.

Hi,

You have suppressed too more files or folders.

What are the names of files and folders into wamp/bin/php/ directory ?

For my own education, how did you determine it was a PHP file?

The PHP folders are for 5.6.2 and 7.0.7. What one should be there?

Are you sure it is 5.6.2 ?

Is there not a file (not a folder) in wamp/bin/php/?

My error. Should be 5.6.22. No file in the PHP folder.

How can I fixed this ? Will reinstalling WampServer fix it? Do I install it over the current version or delete the the current version and install fresh?

How did you figure out it was a PHP file? Where in the error file did it say a PHP file was missing?

Hi,

If there is no file in the folder wamp/bin/php/ is that you deleted without reading the file's name.
With all versions of Wampserver, after install, in the folder wamp/bin/php/ there is a file nammed:

- DO_NOT_DELETE_5.6.15.txt for Wampserver 3.0.0 32 bit
- DO_NOT_DELETE_5.6.16.txt for Wampserver 3.0.0 64 bit
- DO_NOT_DELETE_5.6.19.txt for Wampserver 3.0.4 32 bit and 64 bit

In this file there is:
This PHP version 5.6.xx is used by WampServer in CLI mode.
If you delete it, WampServer won't work anymore.
with xx equals to the PHP version.

So you've deleted the CLI (Command Line Interface) PHP version that is used by all PHP scripts of Wampserver management, so Wampserver can no longer function.

However, I can give you a procedure to rectify problems, but you will absolutely make all the points of this procedure in order, without omitting a single comma!

Still, it is not certain that it works. But before you begin, you must post here the entire contents of wamp/wampmanager.conf file that will give me the necessary references to the proceedings.

Hi,

When you come on a public forum to ask for help and after many answers you say: "I found the solution," the least of politeness would be to give your solution so that it is beneficial to all.

Hi

As moderator and someone who should be teaching others how to solve problems for themselves, you should answer questions. I asked at least twice how you determined it was a PHP file from the diagnostic printout and you did not answer me at all.

So a form of politeness as a moderator would be to help people help themselves to cut down on questions and to help people familiarize themselves with WampServer and diagnostic messages.

@MikeA

I totally agree with Otomatic's reply.

It is not just proper etiquette to post the solution you used, it also improves the usefulness of the post when someone searched for the same sort of error.

As it stands, we don't know what was done to resolve the matter or, for that matter, what the problem actually was.

A moderator, or anyone has the right, and duty, to educated posters as to proper posting methods, what to post, how to post, and to post the solution that resolves their problem

As I said, I totally agree with Otomatic's reply and your reply is totally uncalled for.

I disagree with you. I still do not know how to read the diagnostic output to determine what is wrong. I feel that would be a big help to me to debug future issues. If there are instructions somewhere if someone will direct me to it I will gladly read it.

I just rebuilt WampServer and it now works.

I'm not sure, either, what he keyed off, it may have been a combination of things - I think that you perhaps need to learn a lot more about a lot of subjects before you could fully understand the material you posted.

By the way - what change did you make to fix your problem?

Or is that too much to ask?

I just reviewed the entire conversation:

You said "For my own education, how did you determine it was a PHP file?"

At what point about that, in what reply, did he tell you it was a PHP file? I don't see him saying that prior to your question?

Unless I'm going blind or my browser is hiding text, I dont' see where Otomatic said anything that could be construed to mean that the problem was about a PHP file

You asked your original question at: June 11, 2016 01:54AM

At: June 11, 2016 09:34AM Otomatic replied and ask for more information and referred you to a page to read to provide you with information as to how to ask a question and what to provide.

At: June 11, 2016 08:09PM you replied, rather rudely actually, that you had said you didn't know the name of the file and that you didn't know how to get "the image of the report on here." -- ever heard of typing? Then you say something about "other tabs" but you don't tell us what you are looking at -- there must be millions of windows in PC software, web or not, where there are "tabs" Then you give all of the information you were looking at.

At June 11, 2016 09:48PM Otomatic says you've suppressed some stuff - I think he means in the information you provided AND "What are the names of files and folders into wamp/bin/php/ directory ?"

At June 12, 2016 01:15AM you ask ""For my own education, how did you determine it was a PHP file?"

Otomatic never said it was a PHP file, he asked what was in the PHP directory - such as the ones he shows you in the next reply.

He wasn't talking about a PHP file, he was talking about files (any name) in the wamp/bin/php/ directory.

I think he didn't go into details of how he determined the problem because 1) He's so familiar with things that he knows how they all interact and 2) has seen this happen before - that is, has seen someone deleting those files, and 3) he may have thought you did not have the necessary knowledge foundation to understand anything short of a very long explanation about about a lot of different subjects.

I think that also - you don't seem to have the knowledge base you think your do.

Do you realize that you have just posted your email address on a public forum where it could be harvested by spammer robots?

So, how did you fix the problem?

Where is that information you posted from - where was it displayed, by what program, service, whatever? I don't recognize the format?

You are totally out of line faulting the moderator for asking you to post your solution to the problem.

Hi,

With the message in which you put the error:
Executable: wampmanager.exe
Version: 1.6.2.37
Exception Message: Could not execute run action: The system cannot find the file specified.

The rest of the information of the error is not only incomprehensible but also unnecessary.

plus the message in which you ask:
How to delete items from Wampserver

I had the intuition that you have made inadvertent removal of the PHP CLI version.
Why?
At launch, Wampmanager.exe load the initialization file wampmanager.ini then executes the instructions in [StartupAction] section and the first action is:
Action: run; FileName: "J:/wamp/bin/php/php5.6.19/php-win.exe"; Parameters: "refresh.php";WorkingDir: "J:/wamp/scripts"; Flags: waituntilterminated
and the error is : Could not execute run action: The system cannot find the file specified.
But intuition must be absolutely corroborated by facts and that is why I asked you the contents of the folder wamp/bin/php/ and that's when I saw that there was no PHP CLI version I saw with certainty that this was indeed the cause of your problem.

Now if you want to know how Wampmanager work, download Aestan Tray menu (Wampmanager.exe is renamed AeTrayMenu.exe), unzip the downloaded file, you obtain distr folder and into it, a file named AeTrayMenu.chm on which you double-click to obtain operating aid.

Already it is not very easy for me to explain in English what needs to be done, then, if I have to explain, and more, done approach, reasoning and functioning of WampServer, I spend my life.

Simon T.:

I did not reply with the PHP version crudely. I admitted it was my error. Please stop reading things into the conversation that are not there. I was in error and I admit it.

You are correct that I do not have the knowledge base about WampServer that I would like. That is why I asked for help and to be educated how the error message would help me know what is wrong. And, yes, I know I put my email message there. It is my junk email address.

Otomatic:

Thank you for your last message. I understand how you deducted it may be I deleted a PHP file/folder. I may have inadvertently done that. I have download the file you indicated so I can learn more about it. The website it helpful. That tray program does a lot! See how knowing the product quickly got you to a possible problem. I hope to be at that pointy someday so I do not have to keep asking questions here.

Again, thank you for your help.

All:

I reinstalled WampManager from scratch. Easiest thing for me to do.
