Wamp localhost problem

I've read a few different posts about people having problems getting the localhost to load, I used WAMP a few years ago in college on the same computer and it worked fine. For some reason it just doesn't want to work now.

I've made sure Windows Firewall isnt blocking it, I've changed the port from 80 to 8080 because port 80 was in use. It shows itself as green and online in the taskbar like all services are running but nothing happens when i try to load [localhost] or [localhost] ...no error message, nothing but a blank white screen

there's got to be something simple wrong, its worked on my computer before

any ideas? its appreciated

it says something is already using port 80 but I cant get to the IIS thru adminstrative tools to change whatever is running it, i changed it to port 8080 thru the httpd.conf files but when i go to Apache>Service its still showing Test Port 80 ?

i thought maybe if i go change whatever is using port 80 to something else and leave WAMP using port 80 it may work but I cant find IIS anywhere on my conputer

[forums.iis.net]
this seems to explain how but i dont have Internet Information Services Manager in my Admin Tools

"If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7:

On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. "

you need to stop the service MYDEPSVC or W3SVC and set wamps services to automatic.
but unless you know what your doing , maybe dont follow too many guides online or you might mess somethign up.

Like i said , Me and Riggs are more than willing to fix these issues using teamviewer

It will take less then 5mins , Also its not control... you are seeing the computer, Teamviewer is very good. thats why we use it here. you have a control panel , and can stop, or pause control at anytime etc etc.

Okay, maybe not exactly the same. I ran services.msc and then disabled Web Deployment Agent Service. That freed up port 80 and did the trick. Thanks for your offer.

Ahh, I messed something up..I installed Wordpress and it worked and I thought all was well and then I went to try to go back to phpmyadmin and im getting error messages, i thought maybe uninstalling and reinstalling would help but its still acting up.

now it says
"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /phpmyadmin/ on this server."

oh my...im going backwards..i think when i set up the database for wordpress and set a password it did something, i tried going with no password but then wordpress wouldnt work

and when i go to projects it goes localhost:8080/website ..not sure why because i thought it was set to port 80

before i messed up phpmyadmin i could just take out the :8080 part t make it localhost/website and it would work

UPDATE: i redid the config.inc file in the phpmyadmin folder in apps and i got it working again

smiling smiley now lets see if i can get wordpress working again and not screw it up
