Wamp 2.2 + Wordpress

I've followed the guides on installing Wamp and Wordpress [guides.jlbn.net] and have had it working fine before. I'm not sure if this is more Wordpress or a Wamp problem so here goes. After creating the database in phpmyadmin and the wp-config file I go to install and it hangs, click refresh and the log-in details don't work for Wordpress. So I check the wordpress database but the user section is empty and trying to add another user by phpmyadmin gives me a user but no admin privileges. I've ticked the apache rewrite_module and not sure if I'm missing something simple along the way.

I'm using Windows 7 64bit and have tried reinstalling both Wamp and Wordpress a few times but still can't get the admin privileges to work.

Any help appreciated,
drec.

You may have a issue with localhost

look at the apache and php error logs post relevant bits here if you cannot solve it from those.

Ok that is not much help I am afraid.

One suggestion though, it is better to leave the www folder as it is. When you want to add a site create a folder under the www folder to contain it.

Its actually even better to create a vhost for each site but lets crawl before we run.

So for example c:\wamp\www\site1 and then c:\wamp\www\site2 for the next one. This keeps wamp locahost page running as well as allowing you to have multiple sites to play with.

If you are installing for the first time can I suggest you

1. uninstall wamp using the windows uninstall
2. delete the c:\wamp folder completely. This makes sure your databases are removed as the uninstall will not delete files that the install did not create.
3. reinstall wamp
4. test it works
5. create a folder c:\wamp\www\sitename
6. unzip and copy wordpress into that new folder
7. follow the 5 minute install documentation as before

See how that goes
