With this one the Start/resume service was still showing next to a green triangle, it doesn't seem to do anything if I click on it. Thats the point, for some reason Apache has not started automatically as it should and it does not matter how often you click it it wont start. Right so you have an Apache error: No point posting the MySQL error log !!! If there is noting in the apache err

Pinoy, VERY BAD IDEA !!!! Unless you actually want to allow anybody in the universe to be able to use the phpMyAdmin on your database. I suppose it would stop a hacker having to know anything to hack your database, just drop the security and wave them all in !!!!!

Go to your live site and EXPORT the dayabase in SQL format you should receive the backup as a download. Save that file on your disk Run phpMyAdmin 1. create the database with the same name as live site 2. create the user account and give it the same name and password as live site 3. give the user account privilages on the newly created database 4. IMPORT the downloaded EXPORT If the

Woops sorry, change that tutorial recently to try and make it easier to follow and didn't change all the .localhost to .dev. Apologise. So forget anything with .localhost at the end OR change anything with .locahost at the end to .dev If you install TeamViewer and send me a Private Message with the ID and PWD I will take a look.

RE: Links That is one of the resaons for creating vhosts. If links are badly coded like yours the root of the site will be valid when you place the site in a vhost. remember /css/style.css says go to the root folder and look for a folder called css. When you create folders under wamp/www/site1 etc the root folder is www not site1. So create a vhost for all of your sites. RE: Access

Your best bet with WP is to create a Virtual Host, then it looks like a standard website and not a folder under a website. Then install the correct version rather than copy files from live. Then add that database to mysql Then change the entries referencing the site ( or like you did cgange them in the .sql ) as long as you change then to the correct thing

WP stores the site url in its database when you install it, and then uses that info in various places in its normal working. You have to look through the _options table and edit the references to the live site into the test site eg change into for example there are a few refrences in this table, more depending on what addons you may be using and what they save in there for themselve

That will be due to something wrong in the vhost setup probably. Try this tutorial and see if it helps HowTo: Create Virtual Hosts in WAMP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS PLEASE ENSURE APACHE AND MYSQL ARE WORKING PROPERLY FIRST!!! 1. Create a new folder outside the wamp directory structure. for example C:\websites but this can be on any disk drive visible to the PC running

Have you actually created the account you are trying to grant privilages to? Normal process is: mysql> CREATE USER 'monty'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'some_pass'; mysql> GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'monty'@'localhost' -> WITH GRANT OPTION;

Deepak, Thats not actually a great solution, changing to a port other than 80 is a major pain especially for beginners. Skype and Teamviewer can definitely be configured to not use port 80, not sure about dropbox but others appear to have made it an Apache run together? Anyone like to add a howto config dropbox???
Forum: WampServer English

Ok lets start at the beginning. First re-configure SKYPE to stop it using port 80 and then move Apache back to port 80. This des not harm Skypes activity in any way. How to Configure SKYPE so it does not require port 80 or 443 Run SKYPE then using the menus do this: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection Un-Check the checkbox next to 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternat

Well if you think about it, just for second, its quite obvious! You need to create a database on your local MySQL with the same name as the one you use on your live site. You then need to create a userid with the same name as the one you use on your live site. You then need to give that new userid that same password you use on your live site. You then need to make sure that that new useri
