then input username as administrator and password for administrator, then click ok when done; then just restart wampserver. I don't have a user name and password. I am the administrator and I just click on Run as Administrator. However, I let it REinstall for about the 10th time, no lie, but this time it actually worked when I stopped the services then started the services from the service men

See I can install it, and once it's installed and set up for Automatic, it will be on. But if I need to turn it off for any reason, and then restart services, it doesn't restart. I tried setting it for manual, and I also tried setting it for automatic. But either way I still get the same process.....reinstall, starts auto, stop services and can never restart services unless I reinstall.

I had done that, thank you. Problem is, it still wants me to go through the install process.

Thanks, but I did that also and it wants me to completely reinstall it each time. When I go to Programs and choose Wamp, I have 2 files in there, Start WampServer and Uninstall Wamp Server. So I put a short cut on my desk top to the Start WampServer. When I right-click, I do get the option to start as admin, but it won't start it unless I just reinstall it from that StartWampServer icon.

I had posted a question about Wamp and Vista, and then found this. Would someone explain how they got Wamp to work with Vista? It will work for a time when I install it, but then if I stop the service for any reason, I cannot even start it manually. I have to reinstall each time I want the services to start. I hope there is a fix for this issue? Unfortunately, if you have a new computer yo

I had used wamp on my WinXP with no problem. Purchased a new computer, Win Vista has a monopoly, you can't get a computer w/o it now. I installed Wamp again, and every time I install it, it will run, but I have to keep installing it because I can't get the services to run manually by clicking on "start all services." Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Pamela PJ Kinann p

Okay, so even though I do not have to sign in and WAMP just automatically opens for me, along with the Admin, that's how it is supposed to work? I don't have to log in but it keeps outsiders out?? I am the only one who uses my computer; however, what if someone else came in and opened my WAMP, they'd be able to get on just like I do -- without a password.

OKAY UPDATE! I found the $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'your_new_password'; // MySQL password and put the password in. But now when I open phpMyAdmin it just opens. I don't have to log in. Is it supposed to do that? I thought the idea of going through all this trouble for the password is that now I would have to log in each time, but I'm just there. So what'd I do wrong now?

Well, unfortunately, now I can't get my WAMP phpMyAdmin open at all. There is no place to log in and I get the error message: Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.8.2.4 phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of t

Okay, I read the link you gave me. And so far I have this: The password for 'root'@'localhost' was changed successfully. So I now have a password set through the example you gave of : Goto: localhost/phpmyadmin/ Click on "Privileges" link Click on "edit Privileges" link for ROOT user (and actually for this it said ACTION -- I looked and looked for "edit Privileges"

I am getting this error message: Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole. Is there a way to go back and set a user name and password for WAMP because I'm trying to set up a database and it is requi

Will you tell me this? What is the difference between site root relative and document root relative because I changed my setting to site root relative and now I can view the php pages. But what will that do when I upload the pages to the server? Will it cause different paths to create an issue? Thanks

Yeah, I've been using DW for years too and never had any problems like this! And of COURSE I started WAMP, which tells me that both services are running: Apache and MySQL. But again, I wouldn't have been able to view the other file had Wamp not have been running.

I don't know which it is, could be wamp too. Here is what I do. I have two folders in the www folder of wamp. Each has a contact.php file. I open folder 1, click on a contact.php file, it opens in DW, Preview in browser, opens in IE. I can see the page. Go to folder 2, click on that file contact.php, opens in DW, Preview in browser, I get a 404 file not found error message. Bot

I was browsing the forum trying to see if anyone else ever had this kind of problem, and I found someone asking about how to define several folders within their wamp www folder. So is that my problem? That I can only define ONE folder at a time in the www WAMP folder I found this where you were explaining to the other person how to set up 3 different folders: ok, so now when you access you

Would anyone know why I possibly cannot do more than ONE folder in WAMP and why I continually get a 404 not found error message when I try to view a php contact file. Trying to open these files directly from the www directory and also from Dreamweaver. I can view a contact.php file folder name "folder1" and here is the path: C:\wamp\www\folder1 But I cannot view a contact.php file

Thank you for responding, but as mentioned in my previous post: GOOD NEWS!!! I REdefined my site, did it the same way I've always done it, and then it reloaded the cache and I held my breath. I CAN VIEW IT!!! So thank you, but I'm now good to go! SMILE All is well and worked out.

I tried just the root folder itself, rather than a folder within the root folder and that didn't work either; however, GOOD NEWS!!! I REdefined my site, did it the same way I've always done it, and then it reloaded the cache and I held my breath. I CAN VIEW IT!!! I was totally shocked! Still am. Afraid to go back and look. I better though......whoa......yup! still there! Is that too awesom

I am unsure if I can edit that post above, so I just wanted to add that this is what came up when I tried to view it in Firefox. The requested URL /TMPnm5tf64kjp.php was not found on this server. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) PHP/5.1.6 Server at localhost Port 80

When I view it in Firefox, I get that it cannot be found and it shows a temporary page, which is rather strange. Hmmm............well, back to the drawing board, other than I'm still going to look in DW about this and see what I can locate. Thank you for all your suggestions, and at least you got WAMP running all services for me. That's a big plus! So thank you very much. Pamela

Yes, I can see my page when I open it by typing in the browser the So if you think the 404 means it's with my editor.......hmmm..........so strange really because the path through DW to my folder is this: C:\wamp\www\myfolder\ ....which is where the files are. Then it says Testing Server Folder, and I have C:\wamp\www\myfolder/ there also. Sigh............... Here is my DocumentRoot in the

I certainly can't understand all that on the config file, but just curious, it does say: ServerRoot "c:/wamp/apache2" So should my files be there? and not in the www? Except that everyone I know has their files in the www of WAMP, so why should mine be any different - I guess, huh? Hmm..........back to square one. I don't understand the config file so that's kind of not helping me a

No I am just opening the file through a defined site in DW into the browser IE6. My defined site is in the www root folder of WAMP. I'll open the httpd.conf file with Notepad and see what it says. I've never looked at that file before.

I was able to keep the services running by uninstalling another version of MySQL that was on my computer. So far so good. However, I still cannot view my pages in the www folder, and again, there is a folder named newland for my project that I have put inside the www folder, but I get a 404 page can't be found when I try to view those pages through the browser, and WAMP is running. Hmmm.......

Thank you for your response. No, I don't have other MySQL services running. But there may be an old version of MySQL installed, so I'll check that and UNinstall it. I don't know how to allow something through a firewall. And yes, I start WAMP before I use the website, and strangely enough I can view the site, just can't view my own pages with php extension in the www folder. But I DO have m
