Thank you for those comments. I appreciate the risk of opening the site to the internet. But isn't that the objective? I want people to access the site from the internet. I must be missing something? I am familiar with your RTFM recommendations!! I couldn't agree more!! But I find the WAMP documentation to be like a forest of trees. If you know which tree you want, all of the infornation a

Thank you for that suggestion. I updated the VH file as you suggest but it made no difference. Same error message. I tried both the specific subnet address and the generic 192.168.0 I edit the VH file, save it and restart the services. BUT THEN I added the REQUIRE ip statement to both VRs as below, and now it works. I can access the server from any PC on the subnet. Does that make sense?

I have uninstalled WAMP I have restarted the PC and reinstalled WAMP In c:/wamp64/www I have added a new folder called test. Into c:/wamp64/www/test I have added a simple hello world test.php program I have gone thru the procedure to add a virtual host for my new test project. The

Thank you Otomatic, Can I assume that if I do as you suggest, it will solve the problem of only being able to get localhost access? i.e. it will open the server to the wider internet? F.

I am a reasonably experienced IT person but am new to WAMP. I have a brand-new PC running Win 10 Pro 64-bit at latest 1903 level. No other software installed. My objective is to run the new machine as a web server. I have a fixed public IP address and have a domain name not yet pointed at my IP. On the new machine I want to use WordPress to build a site. I have forwarded incoming Port 80 to

There is only one 32 bit version available and that's the one I used. It's 3.0.0 I avoided 2.5.

On my third attempt to install Wampserever I am going thru the checklist very carefully. I have previously uninstalled WS via the Control Panel and restarted the PC. One of the checks is to be sure there is no other php.ini or my.ini files in the system. I do the recommended search and find my.ini in program files/MySQL folder. So it looks like the uninstall DID NOT remove MYSQL!! Is that co

It worked!! I have WS 3.0.0 so REFRESH alone didn't fix it. I then performed the incantations that you suggested. It fixed the problem!! But what was I doing? I would really appreciate an explanation of how that fixed whatever was wrong?? I would much prefer a clean out-of-the-box installation. Methinks I'll delete everything and start over again with a new new download. Thank you. FL

Yesterday I tried to instal Wampserver 3 (32 bit) on a Win 7 PC. After lots of trouble getting the correct versions of VC installed and shutting down Skype, I had it working correctly. I have a domain name pointing to my PC and could access it over the internet. Everything looked good. I shut down the PC overnight. Today I powered back up and when I start Wampserver, the logo stays red and says

OK, first of all, many thanks for taking the trouble to reply to this elementary query. Your suggestion has of course solved the problem. I agree fully - always RTFM before posting. The following are my excuses(lame). The manual above is 'under construction' so I ignored it - bad decision. I did search many times on the error message and was directed finally to the sticky - things to do

I have downloaded WampServer 2.4 and installed it on a Windows 7 32-bit PC. I have applied all the suggested fixes in the sticky above. I can access the index.php file from localhost. I initially could not access it from other PCs on the same LAN. As per other threads I added 'Require ip 192.168.2' to the httpd.conf file. Having done that I can now access the index file from all the local PC

I am starting to lose patience with WAMP!! I have uninstalled and reinstalled it five times. I have used guides.jlbn to change the password for MYSQL and edit the config.inc.php file. After the fifth attempt everything seemed fine. When I ran phpmyadmin it asked me to login using my password and I was able to login and explore phpmyadmin. I shut down the browser and then ran phpmyadmin ag

OK, I am a newbie. Just downloaded the latest WAMP package 2.0i 7-11-2009. I am following the various guides (JLBN) about how to setup the root password for MYSQL. I have done the bit about the 'privileges' setting and changed the root password. Now I am told to go edit the config.inc.php file. I am told to find the 'blowfish' line and add my passphrase there. BUT there is no 'blowfish' line

Thanks again Steven. I think I'll go with the table idea - a separate table for each web page (text file). Each row is a line of text. I had been put off by the possible number of tables - but this appears not to be a problem. So, problem solved. Well, this one at least George

Thanks Steven. The files are actually web pages. That is, text files containing html/php statements. I will look at using php to read in the files and append the lines to a variable - is that what you are suggesting? Then insert the resulting variable into the table. My main concern here is that I would lose the separation of the individual lines in the file. I want at a later time to be

I have a simple table with an ID field and a TEXT field. I understand a TEXT field can contain up to 64K characters. I have several multi line simple text files created using Notepad. I want to add these files as values in the table. I want the first record to contain all of the text in the first text file, and so on for each text file. So the vaue of the TEXT field in the table will be the

I have installed the current latest WAMP package on Winserver 2003. Everything checked out fine. phpMyAdmin worked fine. THEN I saw that phpMyAdmin was warning that there was no password set for root@localhost. So I used the MYSQL console to set a password. SET PASSWORD etc. I exited the MYSQL console and re-entered to verify that the correct password was now required. It was. I then start
