I know where the data files are now, and I don't like that location. Why can I not modify the mysql configuration to put the data folder somewhere else

Hi again, all -- yfastud Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You mentioned about other post, did you have full > backup before editing? Nah; I wasn't worried because I don't yet have any content :-) Interestingly, after the fifth (5th) time I've installed (with unintalls between), it now comes up just fine. I'm confused. 1 - install in c:\program

Hi again, all -- yfastud Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Read this instruction to get idea how to backup > > Thanks for the pointer. I don't need that, though, as I know *how* to back up; I want it to be *easy*. I should be able to back up my entire system once a month or once a week or whatever and have a directory tree of actual data that

Hi again, all -- So, aside from my "data directory" question in my other post, I have a real problem. After installation (yes, even a vanilla :-) installation with no tricks) mysqld will not start. There is, AFAICT, no log output or anything else. I'm completely stumped. Any tips? TIA again & HAND

Hi! I found WAMPserver recently and love it; it saved me so incredibly much time and hosts my local application happily, and I am VERY grateful to have it! I am installing WAMPserver on a second computer and once again wish that there were a way to have the data directories separate from the installation directory, though. I think I have hacked my way through moving the Apache dirs, but

Good evening! rybz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How to change the "www" directory in wamp serv? I > couldn't find it... thanks. I just went to the WAMP control panel -> Apache -> httpd.conf and changed the DocumentRoot dir. There's probably a control panel way to do it, but that worked for me :-) > > ryb HTH &

Unfortunately specifying the datadir=c:/users/root/wamp/mysql dir that I created along with www causes the service to not start. I would really like to have all of the data under tha

Hi! Thanks so much for WAMPServer! It is *great* and I'm very glad to have it after fighting with Apache and php all afternoon. Alas, although Apache starts right up, mysqld does not.. When I try to start it from the Services menu I get Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly and nothing else. I get no log info or other messages under wampserver. I have had the native
