mysqld cannot start on vista

Hi!

Thanks so much for WAMPServer! It is *great* and I'm very glad to have it after fighting with Apache and php all afternoon.

Alas, although Apache starts right up, mysqld does not.. When I try to start it from the Services menu I get

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly

and nothing else. I get no log info or other messages under wampserver.

I have had the native MySQL on this box in the past but have removed and rebooted and then installed wampserver.

Any recommendations?

TIA & HANW

After uninstall it, you have to delete its registry as well

BTW, Happy Lunar New Year ;-) ;-) ;-)

Whew. Glad it's that simple.

Um... Where do I find that under Vista and and what is the registry key? :-)

Oh, goodie; I found regedit just like under previous Windowses.

Still looking for keys, though.

Thanks again

Yippee!

After removing wamp just to be sure, I hunted down everything "mysql" or "wamp" or "xampp" (yes, I tried that as well) and simply wiped it out. After that I reinstalled and all was peachy. Woo hoo!

It took me a couple of tries to remember "bind-address" but I now have mysql listening on localhost:3306 only along with apache on localhost:80 only and I can finally actually try my app here :-)

Thanks again & HANW
