I dont know where the "wampserver's addons menu" is located. I restarted after changing out the MySQL directories with the newest version and now wampserver is running with MySQL 5.1.30. But I am getting a warning about the library is not the same version. "Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.30. This may cause unpredictable be

Hi All, I am trying to configure WAMP to use the MySQL 5.x Server version I downloaded and I am not sure this will work. I installed the server directory to the wamp\bin\mysql \mysql_server_5.1. And when I installed it I used a password, my current version of mysql does not have one for root (I am using this as a testing machine on my desktop behind a Sonicwall firewall, so I am not conc

Hi All, Does anyone know if reinstalling WAMP (I am running 1.6.4) will delete my MySQL tables? I've read that I need to backup my WAMP directory (argh) and uninstall it, restart and reinstall it, but I am concerned that I will lose my tables. Has anyone gone thru this yet? Recommendations? Thanks in advance, Don Post Edited (06-08-07 15:47)

Thanks for the answer. Your responses raised a few more questions for me. 1) I read somewhere that the includes directory should be located outside your root (www) directory, and in your examples, it is nested inside. 2) You said WAMP was not meant for production servers. I did not realize that installing MySQL, PHP manually was more secure than letting WAMP install it? I changed the password

We are now setting up our own 'ISP' server and want to resolve, once and for all, the issues with includes. In the past, when I tried to design a header for the pages and tried includes, once I was one or two directories deeper than the root, the includes would break and I

I spoke to fast. I DID get to ask for the username and password, but not, it will not accept them. It keeps asking me for the username and password. I confirmed the spelling of both and used... to generate the password and then pasted into my file. ?????? Thanks, Don

I figured it out. Both my files had .txt as the name from wordpad. But my question is, How do you save it without a file type? Windows would not let me save it without a file type in the name. The way I got around it ws to copy the files of one of our servers, edit it with my info and save it locally on my server. Thanks, Don

Hello everyone, I have been using WAMP for a while, but now I want to secure some directories and I am apparently missing something. I have my path for the wamp install as c:\wamp and the root of the server as c:\wamp\www . I put my .htpasswd file in the wamp folder "above" my root folder of "www" . In the "www" folder I have a folder called test and that is wher
