i have skype but this is switched off i also have AVG virus protection, ive noticed whilst selecting localhost from the tray menu the taskbar briefly displays dns error

Hi there just installed fresh copy of wamp2.0 on fresh vista but localhost not found error http 404, are there any special instructions to further setup wamp 2.0 such as needing to configure the config file like i did for xp and wamp5?

yes thankyou it was something to do with my browser or router, what is strange though i was able to refresh the forum page but not able to view a new web page using a new ie7 tab, anyway i will study your step by step guid on wamp2.0 vista set up. many thanks

I've just noticed when turning off the server by using the PUT OFFLINE taskbar option it returns an alert saying: Could not execute menu item. (internal error) Could not perform service action: The service has not been started

Hi there, I did the trick with the quotes as sugested which turned the server on but in my case the taskbar icon is 3/4 yellow and returns the HTTP 404 I'm using vista 32 any ideas wht could be the problem? PJay

Its ok fellas I've sorted it. For future reference: Un-install windows IIS then wamp - reboot, then re-install wamp

Hi, I'm not blonde!!! but ive just installed wamp on my windows pc and the localhost isnt working for the new PHP. I had IIS installed and when i clicked on localhost in the PHP control panel or manually type [127.0.0.1] it returned the 404 error page when i changed to [127.0.0.1] the windows server returned a page as it should.
