WampServer

what's the difference between the two? I'm using wamp for my dev server. I want different document roots for different sites I'm doing. I set up an alias from the menu but what do I use for the host address to connect to make a database? I noticed when I made an alias, it didn't add a virtual host in the httpd.conf. So I was making a php page to try to create a database with Microsoft Expression Web and it setup it's development server and now nothing works! I go to localhost in my browser and it asks for username and password. I try to go to phpmyadmin and I get 404 not found! So it has somehow set itself to takeover localhost and I don't know how to change it back and I don't see how anywhere on this whole
