Don't come around here much... have been reworking my wampserver2 to make it portable, decided to take a gander at what's new. Really like the "thoughtful" changes being added.
Just stopped in to say THANK YOU!, Steven, for all the good work and support presence.

It would be nice to hear back from you , Steven.
Should be obvious that in my last post my reference to "someone who knows better" was to you, of course.
I re-reviewed everything... all I did and what its doing before and after the change.
In my situation anyway, I cannot see any alternative solution to my problem.
Cheers,

PS: It should be apparent if you read my po Forum: WampServer English
PS: If you feel my 'solution post' is terribly misguided, then either please go ahead and delete it, or ask me to and I will.
It would help, however, if there were proper review by someone who knows better for addressing the problems described in the section labelled "PROBLEM DESCRIPTION" - which provides fairly explicit reference.
Thank you.

@bagu... Peut-être que vous essayez l'humour, ou peut-être mal compris? ...
L'affiche originale a dit: "Pourquoi revenir avec wampServer ? le forum est en anglais, le tutoriel est en anglais bref et moi je ne parle pas anglais. alors comment se comprendre ? "

Something else... you can translate any webpage to your language using Google.
Two common methods (if you do not use the Google Toolbar) are...
1) Translate an entire web page directly from Google Translate, simply by entering its address (e.g. "www.google.com" into the input box and clicking Translate.
The Translater will follow you thru clicked links until you close it. Forum: WampServer Francais
That's funny... you say forum is in English?! This is the French forum?!?
Anyway, glad xampp is working for you.
Just to mention... there is way greater support for French here, probably because Rom (who wrote wampserver) is French and has a French forum. You will not find French forum for xampp ...for those times in future where you may run into more challenges (or maybe I overlooked it? Forum: WampServer Francais
I have to agree with Steven... I setup wordpress and other forum databases with no problem, and I keep my sites exactly where I want to. And its pretty easy as well.
In fact, I carry wamp with me on a stick and can carry sites with me for dev while I travel. So if I show up in another state at a relative's home, I can just as easily go to work on their pc as I do mine... running databases Forum: WampServer English
If you are familiar with the registry, it is a simple matter to scan for any occurances of "Aesten" and adjust/correct the pathway. I see this occasionally because I use wamp on a mobile stick between several pc's and it can get, well, weirded out. This can happen if you use substitute drives and assignmenst change inconsistently.

Hi Cameron,
You will accomplish this simply by setting up Vhosts to use NameVirtualHost method.
Steven had some great tutorials here, maybe I can find the links.
Steven, I think you used to have links to those directly off the home page ???
Can you bring those back please. Probably also would be good to have a sticky in the forum pointing to those.
Just my two-sense ;^)

Hurray! Thank you lolo and dval for commenting back... I was wondering if/when anyone else would have tried this out. Glad it is working for others and is relevant solution for this problem.

Hi all,
Well I finally worked something out that I think is fairly innocuos, i.e., shouldn't harm your installation in the slightest.
I also added a menu item for opening the httpd-vHosts.conf in my editor from the WampServer2 menu as well ;^)
I have posted my solution at the link in my original post, i.e. here:

thanks for looking in, Steve...
The discussion being referenced has to do with opening files selected when using the Wamp Tray Menu.
Say you go into the Wamp Manager Menu under Apache and select a log... or if you select any file in the menu tree anywhere... Wamp Manager insists on opening the file with Notepad, period.
This, of course, is nothing to do with how one sets up filetypes for o Forum: WampServer English
Hi again...
Please... We have a question up at the French section, would you please look there for the details?

Thank you.

Hi Jack,
Shorttags issue maybe? (Just google it if you don't know). Just a possibility/thought.
I am a bit tired right now, but to mention... I ran into an issue regarding handling relative paths in the include 'links' (and using the SERVER('DOCUMENT_ROOT') variable and some trying issues with relative paths).

Hi MOli,
I was searching same problem.
Had to use Google Translation to read your message ;^)
EDIT/UPDATE: I FIXED IT. HERE IS HOW I GOT MINE WORKING:
Changing the default text editor for the Wamp Server2 Tray Menus
from NotePad to EditPadPro (or whatever you desire),
plus added code for opening vHosts file from the menu too...

@ toivo: Thank you for your suggestion and reminding me about those magic constants.
I guess I can set a constant for /cgi-bin/ {using something like $cgi = realpath('../cgi-bin/') to do that}, but I was hoping I could simply continue to use "/cgi-bin/" anywhere for accessing it, to keep things simple and universal (across the board).

Hi Folks,
First post here. Installed Wamp a few days ago. Heard a lot of good things about it - including - the developers at fluxbb.org (formerly the punbb group) really had good things to say, which finally swayed my decision. So far I'm loving it...
Well after about a good ~18hours of research, modding, and testing I must conclude that i Forum: WampServer English
