This seems to be a common problem. My Wampserver was working fine and now the system tray icon can't get past the orange color. Was there something in the latest patches from Microsoft that could have caused this? Unfortunately, when I tried a system restore, it failed. There is nothing in the Apache error logs. When I test port 80, it says "...actually used by :" and then "Server: Apache/2.2.21 (Win32)...." etc. My OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Is the fact that it says "Win32" siginificant. Hmmmm maybe I should try the 32 bit version. I'll do that....
My hosts file is correct, my event viewer shows a single Apache error: "Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. :make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80" Skype is NOT running and I had previously stopped IIS so that is not interfering.
Any ideas or suggestions? ....very frustrating....
Thank you, but Steve Martin was kind enough to find my problem and solve it. I appreciate your thoughts.... And for the record, there weren't even any apache logs to look at....
