phpMyAdmin suggested I upgrade to the latest version. I downloaded and un-zipped the file and modified the phpmyadmin.conf file to point to the new folder. The latest version requires a password for user root so I decided to revert to the previous version and modified the conf file back. Goodbye databases, privileges and all. How do I get them back, please!!

you need to redirect to your old folder where the databases are or go back to the other phpmyadmin and export them.

C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysqlx.x.x\data
