Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Hi all

Using WampServer 2.2 downloaded just a few days ago. (wampserver2.2e-php5.4.3-httpd-2.4.2-mysql5.5.24-x64)

When putting the server online, I am unable to serve pages to connections other than from localhost.

localhost works fine, but anything outside of localhost does not work.

I have tried forcing Apache to listen on IPv4 (by setting listen to 0.0.0.0:8080) and have also set my directives to Allow all. I have restarted services. I have also reinstalled WampServer 2.2. But the problem persists.

I believe this is a bug in the new version of WampServer, as previously it worked for me (though I cannot remember the version number).

I have no firewall software installed, Windows firewall disabled through firewall.cpl etc.

Many thanks in advance for your response.

Hi Steven

When searching for 'require all' there are no blank lines preceding it for any of the matches found.

Thanks, that worked!

What a wonderfully fast response smiling smiley

Will this be fixed permanently now that I have made this change, or will I be required to toggle 3 times upon restarting?

Here is the path for my httpd.conf --> C:\wamp\bin\apache\apache2.4.2\conf\httpd.conf
There is nothing in this file called "require local "

Hello Guys!

I have faced lot of problems in the Forbiden 403 Error. Everything was fine after installing wamp server. But it was not showing local host and was producing 403 error.

I just tried typing [127.0.0.1] in address bar mannually and it worked for me on windows 7.

Try it, It may solve your problem.

This probably means that you do not have a correct HOSTS file

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

should have a line

127.0.0.1 localhost

The hosts file is protected by windows, in order to save it you must have Administrator privilages.
Vista/W7/W8 you may think you are an Administrator BUT YOU ARE NOT.

To successfully save the hosts file do this to launch your editor with Admin Privilages.

Locate your editors icon on the desktop or from the Start menus ( notepad will do if you have nothing else )
left click + shift over your chosen editor icon - will show a menu.
select "Run As Administrator" from the menu.
Navigate your editor to the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file.

When you have made changes you will now be allowed to save them.
