Newbie to Wampserver

I am new to the server. My problem is that I can't access any files in my www folder thru the server and local host. I get 404 errors that says page can't be found.
I am running a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I am learning php and new to that too.
If you need any more info, just email me. Thanks in advance.
Rich

Steve, I found this advice and followed it.-----

IF your wampmanager icon is GREEN try this

Use this address in the browser

http :// 127.0.0.1

Without the spaces before and after the :// ( the forum does wierd stuff with urls by default )

If that gets you to the wampserver index page do this

Edit your hosts file ( located in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts ( no extension )
See notes below on how to edit the hosts file.

-----I have no etc files in the drivers folder.
