WampServer

When I am trying to put wampServer online, I am getting following error

"Could not execute menu item (internal error)
[Exception] Could not perform service acion:
The service has not been started"

I have clicked on "start wampserver" in start menu. Wamp Server icon is orange. Now when I am trying to put this server online, I am getting this error. I started all services and then tried restarting services. But I am still getting this error. What can be the problem here ?

I have one wamp server running in vmware whch is on win server 2003 and this one I am trying on desktop which has windows 7 home premium (64 bits)

Please let me know, what to do.

This error happens when apache has not started.

Please check this, when you start all services, what colour does the wamp manager icon become?

If it is GREEN that is good, this means that apache and mysql have started. If it is orange, then apache has not started.

there is also a small bug in some versions regarding ONLINE/OFFLINE that will not be fixed until Oct 15th.

does the site work locally and is not accessbile over network even when online?

When I slick on "start WampServer" , icon stays orange. When I check apache service in services console, it is started.
I am using windows 7 home premium.

If icon is staying orange, how can I solve this problem of starting wampserver ?

if the icon is orange , it means Apache OR mysql is not running

I see MySQL and MySQL5 service. MySQL is stopped, while MySQL5 is running.

How do I know, which MySQL belongs to WAMP ?

When I try to start MySQL service, I am getting error message
"Windows could not start the MYSQL service on local computer.
Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified."

What does this mean ?

It looks like you have 2 other versions of MySQL running on your system

Have you tried another wamp alike, like XAMPP or even installing it yourself??

If so you have not properly uninstalled them and one of them has already grabbed the port mysql uses.

Wamps install of mysql is called wampmysql, so here is how to remove the other 2 versions from your system

Either uninstall the other versions properly if the software they came from is still on your system, or if you have just deleted the folders that the other software came in ( or dont know how the other mysql's got there )

Launch a command window using your admin account or us 'Run as Administrator'

keyin

sc delete MYSQL
sc delete MYSQL5


The names are those you see in the service.msc window

wampmysqld is started , but wampapache is not.
When I try to start wampapache, I get following error message
"Windows could not start the wampapache on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this ius a non-Microsoft service, contact the servoce vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1"

I already have another apache2.2 running. Can that be the issue ?

I got it, I stopped Apache2.2 and then started wampapache service and now wamp icon is turning green.

I also have mysql and mysql5 services running on local computer, but that does not cause wampmysqld any problem. By that I mean, I dont have to stop mysql or mysql5 for wampmysqld to start. Then why is apache2.2 creating problm for wampapache service ?

Please delete all copies of apache and mysql and the use wamp.

Or else delete wamp.

You can't have 2 servers using default settings

Please start a new thread and describe YOUR exact problem please.


1. Make sure you add info about what windows you are running
2. What version of wamp server you installed
3. What error messages you are getting and what you are doing when you get the error message.
4. What colour the wamp manager icon is in the system tray.
and anything else that may be useful

Quitting Skype solved similar issue; I do not know the reason.

How to Configure SKYPE so it does not require port 80 or 443

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection

Un-Check the checkbox next to 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incomming connections'
