Win 7 x64, Cannot access localhost

I'm fairly new to Wamp on Windows 7 and I've tried just about every "fix" I can find on the web and unfortunately nothing has worked. I've disabled IIS, renabled IIS, checked ports, made sure everything is listening in cmd prompt and checked my host file in the systems/driver/etc folder. Everything I find on the web is 1-3 years old in regards to a fix and I'm assuming that's why nothing works.

Here is what's in my host file:

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com
127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 localhost

I dunno what to make of it and if I can't get this working then I'm just going to work on php through ftp on my webserver instead of my workstation.

Please help.

Thanks, appreciate the help. Was a bit skeptical of allowing remote, but you helped me out with no issues.

I know, it's just the whole idea of letting someone remote into my machine. Used to doing it at work, but a new experience on my personal system.

Anyways, thanks for the help!

I wonder if this issue was somehow related to adobe.com entries in hosts file

I also have those entries in my hosts file, and for some reason adobe.com appears in my apache access.log file when I try to access [localhost]

The localhost entry in your hosts file should look like this:

localhost 127.0.0.1
