cannot connect to local host

hi can anyone help me.
i am totally unexperienced at wampserver. i downloaded it and followed the instructions but when i click host and error comes up that it cannot connect.
i have windows 7 64 bit
using comcast for internet and using a netgear router.
my virus scanner is pctools and that is all.
the only thing that i have running on internet is vent server and i had to go into options in router to get taht to work.
can anyone help

Ok start from the beginning

1. Is wampmanager running in your system tray?

2. What color is the wamp manager Icon
