WampServer

Hi
I am new to web development, I installed WampServer and when I click on localhost it launches in the web browser but never opens. It times out and never opens.

hi,

It looks like you may have forgotten to edit your HOSTS file.

edit c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

launch your editor using "Run as Administrator" as this file is protected by the OS and will only allow admin users to update it.

If you see a line like this:
::1 localhost
delete it, or comment it out using the # symbol

make sure you have a line like this in the hosts file:
127.0.0.1 localhost



Question: Is your Wamp Manager icon in the system tray GREEN?

Yes it was always green. Well unfortunately I gave up and just did a system restore back to factory settings. It got rid of some malware software that was deeply rooted so I'm glad I did it. Once I restored everything I went back to install WAMPSERVER and it runs fine now.
