Hi

I just installed wampserver and I can't get it to run. The icon in the system tray stays orange. I see multiple posts in here referring to the wampmanager, but the only program I see under the wamp installation is to stert the wampserver, how do I access the wamp manager?

Thanks

You should have an icon in your system tray.

It will be green or orange or red and look like a W in a surounding box.

Green = apache and mysql running OK

Orange = only one of apache/mysql running ( its probably apache that has not started )

Red = apache and mysql NOT RUNNING

Yep, the icon is there an d orange, how do I check which service isn't running? I can acces mysql via mysql workbench, but how can I check if apache is started (and if it isn't, where do I start it?)

If its orange and mysql is started then it must be apache that has failed to start.

Check by clicking wamp manager -> apache -> services
If 'Stop service' menu item is GREY'd out its running, if its red then its not running.

If its not running try looking in control panel -> Administrative tools -> event viewer

select 'Windows logs' -> Applications and look for anything to do with 'Apache Service' in the 'Source' column.
or check anything showing a red ! icon

If that shows nothing check the wampmanager-> Apache -> Apache error log

Hmm, the window logs show it has a problem binding to socket 80, but how do I find wha is bound t socket 80 and preventing it from opening?

A second question: Where do I click on wamp manager? The only icon just starts the service and no admin panel or anything else

The log errors beign reported are:
The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> (OS 10013)An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. : make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> no listening sockets available, shutting down .

The Apache service named reported the following error:
>>> Unable to open logs .

The wampapache service terminated with service-specific error Incorrect function..

Q2: Put your cursor over the W icon in system tray, left click will open up a menu.

Q1: wampmanager->apache->service->test port 80 ... what does this say.

Obvoius candidates for grabbing port 80 are
1. SKYPE. Change config : tools -> options -> advanced -> connection ... uncheck the 'Use port 80 and 443 as alternatives ....'

2. IIS .. disable it
