If moving the port apache is listening to i.e. 410 solved your problem then your problem is that something else is using port 80.

You would be better off working out what that is and stopping it.

Do you run SKYPE?
Do you run IIS?

I too had the same problem and it was because IIS was running as a service, so I switched it off and tried again. I got the same error only this time because HTTPAPI/2.0 was running. I was not sure what stopping this service would affect so I too changed the port Apache was listening on, but in my case to 8080, and this worked. I also made sure my hosts file had localhost 127.0.0.1. This link was very helpfull when editing the hosts file.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium

Hope this helps.

frank,

Unless you are using it, uninstall IIS ( I assume that is what is using port 80 ).

That should solve your issue.

this can be done from Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn windows features on and off

untick the Internet Information Service, and everything below it.
