Clean installation of Windows Web Server 2008.
All current service packs and fixes installed.
Clean installation of WampServer 2.2a

However, when selecting localhost from the WampServer system tray context menu,
Internet Explorer displays the message:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Click the button to 'Diagnose Connection Problem' and the following message is displayed:

"localhost" is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web service (HTTP)" with this computer.

So, is WampServer supported on Win2008, or am I missing something in the installation and configuration?

Maybe it because default port (port 80) probably used by IIS.

Go to

wamp/bin/apache
then find httpd.conf open up with text pad or notepad then
using ctrl+F
find 80 then change 80 to 8080
and do the same thing change 80 to 8080

after it finish try to using the localhost:8080 ad the address

you might want to try this

so I found the fix (had the same issue), it comes from accidently installing the 32 bit version of the Visual C ++ runtime, uninstall all copies of the visual c++ runtime, and uninstall wamp, then install the 64bit runtime, then install wamp, it works for me now
