Problem running WAMPserver:
I remote desktop into my Microsoft 2008 server, and have successfully installed WAMP. [If anyone is wondering why I am attempting to use WAMP instead of LAMP (or anything else), it is because I need to download sqlsr module ( - which should be topic ignored here (]. When I goto the start menu, and click "start WampServer", I get the following error-message Aestan Tray Menu box:

Aestan Tray Menu has stopped working

Anyone have any idea's why starting up my WAMP results in the Aestan Tray menu error message box?

Researching solutions:
When I was googling why my WAMP wouldn't start in Microsoft 2008 server, I got the following results:

make sure wamp is the same bit as the server ( - which it is.

make sure no other program is running and conflicting with WAMP: skype, IIS, remote desktop, ... - Since this is Virtual machine running Microsoft 2008, this mean there are hardly any processes running, I count 11 running processes. One of them is Remote Desktop, but that is packaged with Windows, and I believe is running on a different port from WAMP - so that should not be an issue. (,71076).

I attempted to figure out if another process is running on port 80 or 443, by using the netstat -b -a command (, and found that nothing is using those ports.

I am running IIS on our Microsoft 2008 server. It was strongly suggested to not run IIS with WAMP. So we disabled IIS.

Next, using command prompt "netstat -ao", i notice port 80 is not used. Checking into httpd.conf, I make sure that the file is "listen"ing to port 80, and lastly "ServerName localhost:80". Unfortunately, this did not result in a fix.

so I found the fix (had the same issue), it comes from accidently installing the 32 bit version of the Visual C ++ runtime, uninstall all copies of the visual c++ runtime, and uninstall wamp, then install the 64bit runtime, then install wamp, it works for me now
