WampServer

After having installed v2.2a over the 2.1e version on 64bit Win7 I started WAMP 2.2
But localhost entry page and "About" box still show v2.1

Is this a bug?

well you installed it over the other.

wamp uses -"only if does not exist" to update files.


there is no changes made to the files in wamp - only files added.

so while it still shows 2.1 the new components will have been added.

you would need to back up your www and db and remove wamp to get all the icons/menus to update.

i guess you could call it a bug

Hmm, that is a lof of (unnecessary) work to do when a user wants to update WAMP.

Couldn't you include an "overwrite" option in the next release installation?

i dont build it. - people dont like there files overwritten.. they make changes to wamp menus etc which would be lost if overwritten.


Originally wamp was modular - you dont update the program itself.. but instead you download the new addons only of apache mysql and php.

Since Romain left there has been 0 addons built and thats why now this issue is occuring.

Your software is up to date.. if the version number is bothering you..

just open the wampmanager.conf file in c:\wamp and change 2.1 to 2.2

wampserverVersion = 2.1
wampserverLastKnown = 2.1

to

wampserverVersion = 2.2
wampserverLastKnown = 2.2
