WampServer

im unable to access wamp localhost through my browser i can only access it as 127.0.0.1

In folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

Restart Wamp to take effect

I tried this, but i am unable to change that file. It says i dont have permission. It is listed as a "file", so I used notepad to open it, but when i try to save it, I get the error message?

Rattlsnak, you need to take ownership of the file.. right click the file click properties....

deselect readonly.

go to the security tab, and click the edit button...in the permissions go to the bottom option USERS (computername\users) and click on it.. then in the bottom portion of that window, click the checkbox next to 'Full'..

Press OK until you get all the way out, save the file (remember not to save it as hosts.txt), restar wamp and call it a day..

Thanks, that worked. I had setup permissions for the "System", but not "Users", duh!

Or you can simply copy that file to desktop, edit, then copy back to overwrite the original file
