I have look at many threads regarding this and follow each of the steps including re-installting WAMP but yet I am not successful.

My environment is Windows 64
Installed WAMP version 2.1
Followed some instructions on setting up the mySQL root table such as
---- Updating the my.ini to remove the commente of password and put a password
---- Updating the phpmyadmin config.ini to put the password there as well

I even used the mySQL console to update the password

No matter what I do, I get the following when I select phpMyAdmin from the Wamp:
ERROR
MySQL Say:
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Thanks for your help

If you forgot your root password, try these instructions to reset your password

[dev.mysql.com] Note you will need to mod the instructions that relates to your environment.

Hi there,

I did not forget my root password. I just installed everything (WAMP) which included mySQL.

Based on the documentation that I see, the default is no password. I then updated the .ini file (my.ini) to have the password... let's assume rootpw. I then updated the config.inc.php to have the same password. I went to the mySQL console and using the USE mysql, I updated the password for the user root.

Thanks.

Hey there!

I have just installed the new version of WAMP. but my local host is not working.

Test the Apache "Test port 80" But it dosen't answer properly.
I used the command netstat -ano to see port in use of another program but result is negative. On the other hand i find out that 127.0.0.1:80 state was TIME_WAITE... I don't understand what dose it mean

Make sure no other program conflict Wamp such as IIS, Microsoft Web Deploy, Web Deployment Agent Service, SQL, Skype, Zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, NOD32, Eset, any web related program including Remote Desktop, Teamviewer or Apache, MySQL, PHP outside wamp folder (ie. in Program Files or System32 folder) ...

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

If using Skype, open Skype > Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection then uncheck "use port 80..." restart Wamp then Skype
