WampServer

I have never yet had the system running as soon as the install program finnishes and offers to run wampserver I get the error message "Aestan Tray Menu has encounted a problem" etc

I have disabled all server type programs and all fire walls virus checkers malware checkers etc...

I have install it several times now and run it on a different computer at work and I get the exact same error messages.
also when attempting to run any of the binaries I get a "not a valid win32 application" message - eg: mysql.exe -

has someone checked the download files, could they have been corupted ???

The problem seems to be a total brick wall
not one of the files can be run

U have a virus. - wamp has been downloaded 5 million times - it's not an error in wamp but usually a virus that blocks exes

Oh my golly if only things were that simple...

No Viruses No spy ware No server programs running

WAMPSERVER just will not run

NONE of the EXEs will run

ALL other EXEs run flawlessly

I would not be here if the simple first steps were not taken first.

My system is clean
My work system is clean

WAMPServer will still not function at all in any way

Same here .. but a bit of investigation cleared up the problem: Skype using port 80 and more ..


Running Win 7 -- mega secure - no viruses

Services: wampmysqld -- running
BUT wamapache -- stopped

Attempted to start service from the "Services panel" - failed ..
Followed the error to System events: this is the error log ..

"The wampapache service terminated with service-specific error Incorrect function.."

port 80 already used by either IIS server, or skype or a firewall

also a httpd.conf misconfigured

Make sure no other program conflict Wamp such as IIS, SQL, Skype, Zonealarm, firewall/antivirus, NOD32, Eset, any web related program including Remote Desktop, Teamviewer ...

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista/W7:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc, open file hosts and delete anything in this file and have only this line below and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost

If using Skype, open Skype > Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection then uncheck "use port 80..." restart Wamp then Skype
