Updating to 2.1 safe?

I'm running the old Wampserver 2.0, with PHP5.3.0 and such.

I just noticed there's a new version and I wonder if I can just install/overwrite the current configs I have with that. Is it safe or do I need to uninstall completely first?

To upgrade, backup www folder and use phpMyAdmin to backup all DB's and Privileges. Uninstall both Wamp and Firewall/Antivirus, remove wamp folder, run regedit to search and delete 2 registries wampapache and wampmysql, restart PC, reinstall Firewall/Antivirus AFTER and WHILE wamp is running

well if you have files in the www folder or databases made with mysql then you will need to back them up.

while wamp is open.. remove the services....

left click wamp>apache>service>remove
left click wamp>mysql>service>remove

then uninstall wamp and delete the c:\wamp folder after as it leaves some files behind.

then install new version,
