WampServer

Thanks for reading. I've just installed wampserver 2.1e 64 bit, but need to use PHP pre-5.3 as I'm tweaking a CakePHP 1.1 app.

I thought it'd be simply running the installer for PHP 5.2.11, but whenever I select 5.2.11 the server won't go online. (I've also tried 5.2.8.) When I select 5.3.4 the server returns instantly.

Nothing is logged by Apache. I once got an access violation when using the wampserver menu but I can't repeat it. The error read something like "could not execute menu item internal error wamp access violation".

I've tried restarting services, rebooting the machine, etc, but nothing works. The only configuration I've done from the basic install is to set up mysql and configure apache to use port 81 and a different web root directory.

Any ideas please?

If ur using 32bit then it shud work- it will not work with 64bit wampserver

If anyone who has editing access over this page [www.wampserver.com] is reading - would it be good to put a note on this page mentioning the PHP version limitations of 64 bit wampserver?

I'm sure many PHP experts know of this compatibility issue, but given wampserver is intended to make using the WAMP stack easy for beginners I think a warning would be useful and aligned with the aims of the WAMP project.

Perhaps there are reasons beyond my knowledge though - just a suggestion.
