Not able to access MySql

I have a brand new Win7 computer. I downloaded WAMP 2.0i. I installed it. The installation was fully
successful. Then I screwed it up and I can't seem to get back to an operating situation.

I was preparing to upload my backup of a previous MySql database sql code.

I open phpMyAdmin. It worked normally, but as I was about to create my first new database it
was warning me that my ROOT user on localhost has NO password. That was true it did not.
So I GAVE THE ROOT USER a password... and then I've been unable to get phpMyAdmin to
open the default databases. NUTS.

I read several previous posts about my error...

"#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO"

I tried their suggestions, including...
1. Uninstalling, and then reinstalling WAMP...; no luck.. still have same problem
2. Editing config.inc.php ...

$i = 0;
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = '';

Leaving it as is, or placeing my actual password in it DID not alter my prioblem.

The bottom line is there does not seem to be a way around this.

I would just likwe to a total re-install and start from scratch with a NEW setup and a
clean install.

HELP!

Ok. Thats fixed. But now ANOTHER problem.

All of a sudden when I select the phpMyAdmin tool from thr WAMP icon menu i recieve
a FILE NOT FOUND error. Thr url it is searching for is

[localhost]... and then the phpadmin location it says just /phpmyadmin/
which results in...

Not Found

The requested URL /phpmyadmin/ was not found on this server.

I'm confused! I did not do anything that would alter the path reference to the
phpMyAdmin directory ... I THINK,

I had been attempting to set the Apache directory aliases from the WAMP server menu
and had a few problems getting it done. I've even gone back and removed the aliases I set
but does not change the error. Where is the file and location of the referemnces
for the menu choices? I have obviously changed them somehow.

If I go in and run the index.php file in the phpMyAdmin dir it work. But the path references are
screwed up somewhere.

Let me ask what I hope is a simple question. I feel not so much like a complete idiot
after reading through the guides.

I would like to completely uninstall WAMP and start from SCRATCH!!

Is there a guide for doing THAT. Wiping all passwords and data is ok,l I havent
really done any data yet.

If there is not a guide, what are the CORRECT steps to be taken that allows a NEW
clean install?

Thanks

you should uninstall both wamp and firewall/antivirus, remove wamp folder, run regedit to search and delete 2 instances wampapache and wampmysql, restart pc, reinstall wamp, then reinstall firewall/antivirus while wamp is running winking smiley
