Cannot connect to localhost

I am really hoping that someone can help me with a problem that has just cropped up. I have been successfully using WampServer on Windows 7 for a few months now without any problems. Yesterday when I went to use the program, I could not it to connect to localhost. It would just keep trying to connect and after a while just give me a blank page. This would also happen if I tried to connect manually. The WS icon is all white. I cannot find anything that is blocking port 80. I use esetnod for both my a/v and firewall and I have not changed any settings on that program. I cannot figure out why WS will not make the localhost connection. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program about 5 times since yesterday, but it still will not work. Any suggestions? Any help is gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same exact thing happen yesterday except that I get an error "Notice: Use of undefined constant E_DEPRECATED - assumed 'E_DEPRECATED' in C:\wamp\. . .\application_top.php on line 17
Unable to connect to database server!

I'm supposed to running 5.2.9 rather than 5.3.0 so I don't really understand how I could be getting this error or why I would suddenly get it without having made changes to the local site?

Real old lady here. Talk slow and loud.

Line 17 of that script says "error_reporting(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_DEPRECATED);"

When I comment that out I get a database connection error in another file: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user '...' (using password: NO) in C:\wamp\www\...\includes\functions\database.php on line 19
Unable to connect to database server!

O.K. that one was my fault also. Didn't realize there are 2 application_top.files. One in admin/includes, another in /includes.

Commented out both and solved the error reporting but still can't access local site although I can others. I think maybe a reinstall of OSC is the easiest way to deal with this?

Apparently I cannot start my WAMP server.
- Port 80 is not in use
- No IIS running
Anything else I can check?

I've used WAMP allready on this computer but recently upgraded to windows 7

Working fine here on Windows 7. If you recently updated WAMP try doing a clean install, that's what made it work for me.

I can't start localhost either...

I've tried [127.0.0.1] but I get the same response as just going to localhost.

The wamp icon is white and says server is online. No errors reported in any of the error logs.

I used netstat -b and there was no indication of anything listening on :8081.

I've reinstalled multiple times, making sure to throw away the c:/wamp folder.

IIS WAS running, but I turned it off.

I'm in WindowsXP on a corporate computer that typically sits behind a firewall. I set Firefox to use no proxy since I am at home trying this.

Thanks in advance for your help!
