Hi,

I'm trying to install the wampserver into root but the installer doesn't allow me to do so. Is there any way to install in to root?

I'm using windows xp and have a partition dedicate (z:\) for the wampserver.

I don't know what you mean with root.
You don't have to "update" to 5.2.10, at least your code.
But you can use values you have set in previous php conf file into the new one...

it's like this..i created a partition for wamp.. now, when we install wampserver, the installer cannot accept if i just enter the drive letter say it be "Z:/".. it's like compulsory for the installer to install wampserver into a folder.. so, i'm looking for solution to install wampserver directly to the drive, and not folder

as for the php version, i'm asking how to do the upgrade/guide and not an opinion whether i have or have not to do it..

You can not install programs directly to the root of your hard drive. However programs can be installed within a folder that is in the root of the hard drive, such as Z:/wamp

Maybe you want to map a folder to a drive letter instead. As explained here
