phpMyAdmin hits an error

Just installed WAMP on my vista computer, and my server icon is white. I can get localhost to come up. I can get the php info page to come up. I can do command line interaction with mySQL, but phpMyAdmin errors out with:

#1 - Can't create/write to file 'C:\xampp\tmp\#sqlf8c_4_2.MYI' (Errcode: 2)

I have changed the permission setting on the C:\xampp\tmp\ folder, and still nothing. What ever the problem is, it will not let drupal install on the computer.

Thanks for any help.

ANSWER

I went into the my.ini file in mySQL and changed the #tmpdir=/tmp/ entry to tmpdir=C:/tmp/. It is now working fine.

Here is the url of where I got the answer: [dev.mysql.com].

Hopes that helps someone else.

Hello all of you

I have likely the same problem;
"Can't create/write to file '\xampplite\tmp\#sql1034_b_0.MYI' (Errcode: 2)"

Once I had Xampp but that's been a long long while ago..
But I work with Wampserver for severall months already, and a week ago I saw that there was a new version 'wamp2.0i, so I downloaded it, and installed it today. And now I get this error ...
I tried to change the my.ini, but the error stays the same..

Anyone some fresh ideas?

Thanks a lot.

I've deleted 2 files.. my.ini and my.ini.old, these were both in my c:/WINDOWS/ path..
But it still makes no difference towards my problem ..

Wow thanks for this I've searched for days to the answer to this problem

As suggested i did a search of the computer for instances of my.ini and found one in windows

I deleted the file, uninstalled Wampserver rebooted reinstalled Wampserver and all is now fine.

Toumimi - you are the greatest - thank you so much winking smiley
