WampServer

Hi,

I installed wampserver version 2.0. The color of icon on tray is yellow and white. When i run [localhost] from browser(Firefox) its asking for username and password its strange i have am seeing this error first time. Have used wamp from long time. I use windows xp. Please help

microsoft IIS is installed. its another webserver. and thats what your connecting to which has a username and password.

you need to disable /uninstall iis and then wamp will go white and work from localhost

I don't have IIS installed i checked control panle->Add or remove program -> iis, Please can you explain in more details if i am wrong. how to find iis?

IIS and Apache/Wamp are both web server and might conflict in some way, so you have to disable IIS in order for Wamp to work

Disable IIS in Vista:

Control Panel, Uninstall Programs, Turn Widows Features On or Off, uncheck Internet Information Services

Disable IIS in XP:

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components, uncheck Internet Information Services (IIS)

Restart computer, then restart Wamp

Also, open file hosts in folder C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc and make sure you have only this line and nothing else

127.0.0.1 localhost
