Version 2.0 mysqld.exe problem

Morning,

Just installed wamp v2.0 and when I start the server it generates an error notification within windows stating that mysqld.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close:

mysql log file:

081202 11:33:55 - mysqld got exception 0xc0000005 ;
This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary
or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built,
or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.
We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help diagnose
the problem, but since we have already crashed, something is definitely wrong
and this may fail.

key_buffer_size=16777216
read_buffer_size=262144
max_used_connections=0
max_threads=151
threads_connected=0
It is possible that mysqld could use up to
key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 133305 K
bytes of memory
Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

information that should help you find out what is causing the crash.

Thanks for the response Steven,

I have uninstalled, downloaded and re-installed the application and it still generates the same error....I had xamp installed previously (which I uninstalled) and that seemed to work fine (although I am new to this).

I would prefer to use wamp if possible.....any suggestions?

only thing i can think of is windows registry from xammp

uninstall wamp again

start>run> regedit

click edit and find and search for "mysql" "apache" and "wamp" abd xxamp"

delte any folders on the left that it finds ..

then renistall wamp

Hi.

I get exactly the same exception message in MySQL log file. And it keeps crashing over and over again every time I restart MySQL daemon. I run WampServer version 2.0d on Windows XP SP3.

I have also noticed a slight miss;

"Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.30. This may cause unpredictable behavior."

Above error message appears in phpMyAdmin when you access it. I assume that it's true, and causes all the problems. It looks like PHP MySQL library, libmysql.dll, hasn't been recompiled since 2 releases back, 2.0b, it should have been recompiled using new libraries and header files from MySQL 5.1.30 source. And so is Apache MySQL library, atleast the size is absolutely same.

Thank you.

I'm getting the exact same error. Had an older version of wamp on there, uninstalled it and removed all files. Installed this latest version and mysqld won't start up....

tried cleaning up registry, uninstalling/reinstalling, etc...

@ mklappen

Don't waste your time and don't mess up your system. The problem is really on WampServer side. The application has been constructed by pieces from different MySQL releases, thats very common. I assume there will be a quick hotfix for WampServer 2.0d, atleast I wish so.

@ BigMike

Hi.

I seem found the problem, the version difference isn't the problem. It crashes because MySQL table is not updated from version 5.0 to 5.1. Do following when you first time start newly installed 2.0e:

Start > Run > cmd > C:\Wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysql_upgrade.exe

It will update and repair all tables, then you can restart all services and it will be fine to go. Looks like Wamp developers forgot it. smiling smiley

Thank you.

Not sure if this fixes the problem BigMike was seeing but unfortunately this didn't fix it for me....

I get was getting the exact same error message in the mysql log as he was. When I try to run mysql_upgrade.exe here's what I get:

C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin>mysql_upgrade.exe
Looking for 'mysql.exe' as: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysql.exe
Looking for 'mysqlcheck.exe' as: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysqlcheck.exe
Running 'mysqlcheck'...

C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysqlcheck.exe: Got error: 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) when trying to connect
FATAL ERROR: Upgrade failed

C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin>

Thanks for your help.

You have to have the MySQL service up and running when
you run the upgrade.

I ran it and got the following output from it:

Looking for 'mysql.exe' as: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysql.exe
Looking for 'mysqlcheck.exe' as: C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysqlcheck.exe

@mokeski

The core problem is that the service isn't running therefore you cannot run the update. Catch 22! Is there a workaround?

I think you didn't read properly what I wrote.

Do following when you first time start newly installed 2.0e:

Start > Run > cmd > C:\Wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.30\bin\mysql_upgrade.exe

It indeed crashes every time you try to restart MySQL, but it doesn't the very very first time after you click Finish in Wamp installation wizard. So remove it, install fresh, let it start up (make sure mysqld.exe is running), and then run mysql_upgrade.exe. After that you can restart all services and it hopefully will be running fine.

PS: Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.30 (this error remains afterwards but I don't think it causes any bigger troubles, atleast it doesn't for me).

That's the error that I'm concerned with.

I tried installing MySQL directly from [www.mysql.com].

I tried upgrading phpMyAdmin to 3.1.1-rc1.

I tried taking the libmysqll.dll, renaming it to
php_mysql.dll, and placing it in my extension
directory for PHP. That doesn't load; mysql
support disappears from phpinfo() and returns
when I swap the original .dll back.

I ran the mysql_client_test.exe from the zipped
version of MySQL. It ran through 198 tests OK,
then complained: .\mysql_client_test.c:15705:
check failed: 'res == 20'.

I didn't set up the proper environment nor did I
run the test as part of the proper suite.

I'm going to guess that the discrepancy between
the library and the server isn't going to hurt me too
much.

Still having problmes....I unstalled and reinstalled 2.0e and selected the lunch wamp box and finished the installation. As soon as the application loads I get the mysqldexe error that windows then closes. I then ran the update and restarted all services but it still gave the same error and shutdown.

Two questions......1. have I followed the same process as yourself......2. how can I get mysqld.exe (or ensure it is running) when it instantly closes due to the error on load.

thanks
